In this new video, we see Boston Dynamics’ imposing, but capable Atlas Robot doing a bit of house cleaning. It’s about time robots did something useful, instead of just learning new ways to kill us. Or at least after they do us in, they will be able to clean up and hide the evidence.
The video demonstrates the bipedal robot’s whole-body coordinated motion, which uses a control algorithm developed by the Robotics Lab at the Institute for Human & Machine Cognition (IHMC). Watch as Atlas sweeps and even vacuums its lab.
It does a pretty good job too. I’d like to see it mop the floor and electrocute itself while tripping on a banana peel, but that’s just me. It also might be funny to see it do some laundry and have the whole house fill up with soap bubbles.
