Bento Bioworks claims it has created a compact and relatively affordable device that incorporates the machines you’ll need to prepare and analyze DNA samples on the go. The Bento Lab is meant for professionals and enthusiasts, but there will be a starter kit for newbies as well.
The Bento Lab has a centrifuge, a thermocycler, a gel electrophoresis unit and a transilluminator in its 13″x 8″x 3″ case. If you don’t know what any of those devices do, you might want to get the Bento Lab with the Starter Kit, which has extra tools and accessories and 10 mini-projects that will introduce you to DNA analysis.
Pledge at least ~$1,000 (USD) on Kickstarter to receive the Bento Lab as a reward; add around $210 to get the Starter Kit as well.
