Splyt Light Modular Lighting Fixture: Bulb-Lamps Duality

The Splyt Light is the bonsai of lighting. You can grow or trim it according to your needs or style. As long as your needs or style can be solved by Y-shaped modules and tiny light bulbs.

Splyt uses Y pieces that each have one male bulb socket soldered to two female sockets. The only exception is the base Y-piece, which branches out into three female sockets. Each Splyt Light kit comes with at least eight 10W E12 bulbs, though you’re free to use other similar bulbs. Sadly, you can’t make a colossal tree of light with Splyt; the base Y-piece can handle only 250W max while the small and large Y-pieces can handle only up to 75W each.

It’s a great idea, but I think the designers should have pushed for more variety, such as more module shapes, as well as colors or patterns. Pledge at least $65 (USD) on Kickstarter to receive a Splyt Light kit as a reward.
