Hop Aboard the Real Catbus!

There are a lot of things about Japan that I don’t understand. Like, why do you need to see inside your ears with a video camera. I also don’t understand Catbus. This strange creature comes to us courtesy of the world of Totoro. Now, there’s a real world version of this creepy thing that people can climb inside. It reminds me of that one scene in The Revenant where DiCaprio climbs inside the dead horse whilst naked. Whoops, spoiler alert.

This Catbus is on display at a Studio Ghibli exhibit at Tokyo City View, and it’s the first large enough for adults to get inside of. I really hate how the eyes glow and stare deep into your soul. I’m pretty sure the whole bus thing is only a ploy for this cat demon to get people to climb inside where they will be trapped forever.

Catbus is on display at Tokyo City View in Roppongi. Another, equally disturbing, Catbus will be on display at the Studio Ghibli Museum in Mitaka starting July 16.
