Boy Battling Brain Cancer Gets a TIE Fighter Wheelchair

 |  |  |  |  October 27, 2016

Volunteers at Magic Wheelchair have created something truly amazing for an 8-year-old Oregon boy battling brain and spinal cancer. They made him this awesome TIE Fighter costume that he can cruise around in this Halloween.

The Imperial spaceship brought an amazing smile to his face and warmed his heart too, as well as our own cold dead hearts. This isn’t just any TIE Fighter. It’s Vader’s TIE Fighter. That’s why Daniel Shaughnessy is dressed as the Sith Lord.

The non-profit organization spent about 200 hours transforming the chair into the vehicle. Daniel’s mother Jessica Thomas had tears in her eyes:

There were definite tears! Definite tears… And being able to see the look on his face when they took the cover off, and he got to see it, was amazing. The things that they do and just out of the goodness of their hearts that they do these things is so amazing.

It is amazing. The folks at Magic Wheelchair are true heroes.
