I love walking through neighborhoods around the country and seeing those Little Free Library boxes popping up. They’re a great way to share books that you’re done reading, and to discover new ones. But most Little Free Library boxes are just that – LITTLE.
Not so with Dan Zemke’s neighborhood in Detroit. The Doctor Who fan decided to build a genuine TARDIS as the local free library in the Woodbridge area, at the corner of Vermont and Warren.
Zemke worked with his father to construct the library TARDIS, which stands about 10 feet tall, weighs nearly a ton, and holds about 140 books. There’s a false wall up front to keep people from messing around behind the bookshelves, so don’t get any funny ideas and try to take this police box off on a journey through time and space.
Awesome build, Dan.
