I’ll probably go see the Ghostbusters reboot when it hits theaters. I very much loved the original and I am always leery of reboots of films that I loved growing up. Sometimes they are fine, other times they suck hardcore.
Back in the ’80s, Saturday Night Live was the show all the cool kids stayed up to watch. If your parents let you stay up that late, you were a badass in elementary school. I liked those old skits with Eddie Murphy and his castmates, but the modern show is a bit boring to me.
My favorite Arnie flick from the ’80s was easily Predator. The later films in the franchise really sucked, but that original was a fantastic movie that gave us iconic characters and one-liners like “GET TO DA CHOPPA!”
Ryan Reynolds is a funny guy, and he was born to play Wade Wilson both before and after being turned into an avocado’s anus. I saw the movie this weekend and it was so awesome – easily my favorite superhero film even though Deadpool really isn’t a hero.
I loved Mario Kart back in the day, but boy could the game piss me off. Getting nailed with a turtle shell and off the track waiting for a tow that seemed to take forever was a ticket to throw-the-controller-land.
The Curiosity Rover is still up there right now cruising around the surface of Mars doing its sciency stuff. It’s picking up dirt, checking it for microbes or water, and taking some really cool selfies. The latest video that NASA has offered up from the Red Planet is one that Curiosity shot.
Whoever the deviant, glorious bastard was who came up with the latest Twitch masterpiece is a damned genius. It sounds like your typical boring Twitch stream on the surface – a contest where people sit on a couch and play Super Smash Bros.
I’ve sworn off reading any fantasy book series that isn’t already complete before I start it, after the massive annoyance that was The Wheel of Time series. I started that series in high school, and still haven’t finished it.
Fans of Star Trek: The Next Generation and later Trek productions know that computer graphics were used extensively, meaning there generally aren’t models of the Enterprise from Picard’s reign on. In the original series, the Enterprise was an 11-foot long model that had lights inside.
There are plenty of geeky gals out there who love the Star Wars franchise. The thing is that not all women like to be overt about their geeky side. For those who prefer to be more subtle, this Darth Vader Kimono Cardigan is perfect.
Growing up, I rented the VHS tape of the b-flick American Ninja probably a million times. I wanted to be a Ninja pretty badly. My mom would never let me buy a sword or throwing stars, so my ninja dreams never came true.
I am so looking forward to the release of Deadpool next month, so it had better not suck. If it does suck, Ryan Reynolds should be banned from ever making a superhero movie again. I’ve seen some awesome looking trailers for the film and the marketing materials that are turning up are nothing short of genius.
Remember Robot Wars? The show that pits robot against robot in a fight to the death? Well, the BBC are bringing back the series with more robots and more destruction.
In case you don’t know, Robot Wars ran on the BBC between 1998 and 2003, and was hugely popular.
This Mickey Mouse inspired musical sculpture is more than a bit creepy. It looks like someone cut the heads off of Deadmau5 and Daft Punk’s Thomas Bangalter and smashed them together.
The thing is called the MikeyFon and was commissioned by Disney and built by a Polish firm called PanGenerator.
