I’m really not sure who the target audience is for this odd mobile phone handset. Maybe it’s for people trying to quit smoking? Or is it for people who want to look like they’re smokers? Regardless, you sure will look goofy making your phone calls into this thing.

This funky modern lighting fixture might be named for its umbrella-like shape, but to me it looks like some sort of alien jellyfish is about land its spacecraft in your living room. Created by French furniture designers Beau & Bien, the Smoon Ombrella lamp gets its sculptural potato chip-like shape from custom cut Plexiglas.

Hardware hacker Ian Matthew decided to see if he could turn a hard drive into a clock. But this isn’t one of those lazy designs where you just stick some clock hands through a hard drive platter.

This “capsule train” concept will give each person their own little train compartment fiefdom to rule on their way to work. Their are individual capsules that fit one person, or larger 4-person capsules. The concept was designed by Hamit Kanuni Kuralkan from Melbourne, Australia.

Britain is reportedly on alert for the wasp knife, a knife that can “deliver a ball of compressed gas capable of killing its victim at the press of a button.” A needle in the tip of the knife’s blade shoots out a little frozen gas ball which instantaneously grows to “the size of a basketball” and freezes the victim’s internal organs.

I’ve seen some offbeat casemods in my travels, but I haven’t seen one quite this odd in a while. Apparently, some guy from Holland came across this cheese display prop and said to himself, “I’ve always wanted a PC that looked like a wheel of cheese”.
