Next year could be a very good year for watching comets. A comet was discovered this past September that is expected to fly within 1.2 million miles of the center of the Sun on November 28, 2013.

I could give you countless reasons why I love my dog. If I had to sum it all up, it would be because she loves me for who I am and forgives any small imperfections in the blink of an eye.

You might remember back in May of this year I mentioned a meteorite that had entered the atmosphere over Northern California and caused a fireball during the day. Researchers were quick to bring in a giant blimp to search for large fragments of the meteor on the ground.

Unless you follow these things, you probably didn’t know that a gigantic asteroid passed by the Earth over this past week. This time around, the gigantic asteroid, known as 4179 Toutatis, was about 4.3 million miles from the Earth.

I’m frequently impressed with the projects coming out of DARPA, but most of the stories I’ve come across have been about their advances in robotics and defense systems. This new technology is designed specifically to save lives of wounded soldiers and civilians, and it does it with a simple spray foam.

When we were kids, my sisters and I used to think that we were literally growing whenever we got hiccups. That was partly the reason why we never did anything to get rid of them, since we wanted to be tall and all.

We followed the final trek of Space Shuttle Endeavour closely. Endeavour was given to the California Science Center and its last 12 miles required numerous trees to be cut down and involved using a pickup truck to tow the massive shuttle down public roadways.

The interesting thing about research into video games is that depending on which side you listen to, video games either turn players into insanely violent criminals or video games can make you a better person. One of the latest bits of research performed using a video game comes from Boston Children’s Hospital.
