Christmas is fun, but it is also can be a lot of work. First you have to get that tree out of storage, then you have to put lights on it. Then ornaments. Man, I’m getting tired just thinking about it.

What do you get when you take a couple of bright red LEDs, a tiny circuit board, a few wires and strap them to a couple of batteries ? I’ll tell you what you get. You get Machine PP3, a teensy, weensy little pocket sized robot that will charm the socks off of anyone he meets.

This tiny flashlight is about as minimal as it gets. Just snap the little LED light unit onto the top of any 9-volt battery, and voilà, you have a fully functional source of illumination. The compact light includes a trio of super-bright LEDs, which should be plenty for helping you find your keys in the dark.

Designer Richard Lawson has created the oh-so-simple LED lights that clip on the top of an ordinary 9-volt battery. Originally designed for a Mathmos-sponsored design competition, they’re now available for you to purchase for the first tim.

Dutch artist Lonneke Gordijn of Drift has created these beautiful little lights which create an amazing synergy between technology and nature. The Dandelight combines a 9-volt battery, an LED, phoshphorusbronze and a real dandelion head to create a fragile, but stunning light source.
