Thanks to the Transformers’ 30th anniversary, we’ve seen Optimus Prime and Megatron turned into glam rockers and bears. Now they’re also video game consoles. Takara Tomy will be releasing limited edition action figures of Optimus Prime as a Sony PlayStation and Megatron as a Sega Genesis aka Mega Drive.

Portal 2 is one of those video games that was such a classic that gamers are still playing the title even though it’s a few years old now. If you are a fan of the game, you will want to get your wallet ready to buy one of these two action figures, or perhaps both.

Growing up in the ’80s it seemed like every year there were hoards of playsets that would launch based on some of the cool movies of the day. I have many fond memories of my Star Wars Ewok tree house playset.

Not everyone can be a superhero, but everyone can have their own superhero action figure thanks to Firebox. But that’s only if they’re willing to cough up £79.99 (~ $137 USD) for it.

Aliens fans may recall Bill Paxton as Private Hudson, the guy that talked all badass until the Xenomorphs showed up. Then he was all like “Game over, man! Game Over!“ If you are a fan of the Private, some new action figures are over at ThinkGeek you might want.

If you’re the type of action figure collector who’s really into customizing your collection, check out Boss Fight Studio’s Vitruvian H.A.C.K.S. (Highly Articulated Character Kit System). They are 4″ figures that are made to be highly poseable and customizable.

It’s too bad that Twin Peaks didn’t last longer on TV. It had some quirky characters and plenty of dark and bizarre goings-on. Plus, we never even got any action figures. At least these action figure mock-ups from Twin Peaks let us see what we missed out on.

[SPOILERS] Craftsman and artist Mick Minogue made action figure-style woodcuts of some of Westeros’ infamously battered – or worse – characters for the Winter is Coming art show at the Ltd. Art Gallery. Needless to say, the figures give away some of the novels’ plot points and are most certainly not for kids.

There are a lot of adults that collect action figures from various sci-fi movies and TV shows. One of the most beloved science fiction series to hit TV, and not last long, was Firefly. Fox killed the show after only a handful of episodes leaving a lot of geeks angry to this day.

Looking back at the Atari 2600, it really wasn’t very good until Activision came along and raised the bar for graphics and sound for the early 8-bit console. To commemorate these classic games, Chicago Toy Collector Dan Polydoris created this nifty set of custom action figures.

Action figure modder Sillof loves to remake popular characters by casting them in the style of different eras or genres. But when the owners of the Best Western Denver Southwest hotel approached him last Spring, they wanted him to combine two popular franchises.

This custom 7″ action figure of the Crimson Typhoon wasn’t made by triplets. It was modded by toymaker/jaeger meister/apocalypse canceller John Mallamas aka Jin Saotome.

We’ve already seen some innovative ways to make action figures via 3D printing. But ModiBot might be the best and most practical 3D printed action figure yet. Revoltech recently released this 25th Anniversary action figure of Naked Snake aka Big Boss from Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker. It comes with a lot of props, but the plainest of its props is also the best one: a cardboard box.

One of the cooler toys to rear its head at the 2013 New York Toy Fair was this gigantic new Transformer, which stands a whopping 24-inches-tall.  

Here’s a heads-up for Star Wars fans who have yet to check out the most awesome thing to hit eBay since the beginning of time: a listing for 1,950 action figures featuring the rich slew of characters from the hit franchise that George Lucas built.
