We’ve all been there. You are playing a game or doing some important work and suddenly Windows crashes and the dreaded Blue Screen of Death  (BSoD) shows up. Normally that gives you a sad face, but with Windows 8, Microsoft feels your pain and shows you a sad face of their own.

I’ve been fortunate enough with my current desktop PC never to have seen the Blue Screen of Death, but it was a common occurrence in Windows Vista, Windows XP and many versions before it. While it hasn’t completely eliminated error messages, it looks like Microsoft has decided to change the colors of the infamous BSoD from blue to black in the upcoming Windows 8.

I will admit to an irrational fear of writing BSOD, saying BSOD, or thinking BSOD. I think Windows sits waiting like HAL for us to utter the word and then offers up the dreaded blue screen out of spite.

PC World recently featured 12 geeky tattoos (the article calls them “tech tattoos”, but there are video game related ones as well) , but I think most of them can simply be called “dumb ideas.” Let’s have a look at some of the featured mistakes tattoos: I’m not too disgusted with that USB tattoo, because well, it’s simply lame.

Not that your screen really needs saving these days, but some cruel jokers over at Microsoft TechNet have released the Blue Screen of Death Screen Saver for those of you with a sadistic streak. The screen saver accurately emulates the dreaded OS hard crash that Windows is (in)famous for.
