Little has been revealed yet about Level 257, other than the following description and the image shown here. “Introducing a unique dining, entertainment & social experience inspired by PAC-MAN™.” The restaurant is expected to open sometime in 2015 in the Chicago suburb of Schaumburg.

Okay, I actually don’t know if you could have produced these images with an 8-bit system, or if you would have needed a 16-bit one, but I still love the way these retro styled cityscapes look, no matter how many bits they required.

Advancements in biotechnology continue to amaze me. We’re rapidly approaching the point where human/cyborg combinations are becoming more and more plausible, as is evidenced by this recent accomplishment by the Rehabilitation Institute of Chicago. This past sunday, a man wearing the first “thought-controlled bionic leg” used the limb to help him ascend 103 floors of the skyscraper formerly known as the Sears Tower.

LEGO is the geekiest building material on the planet I think. People use the little bricks to make all sorts of awesome projects. The latest LEGO project that I have come across is massive. Artist Sean Kenney has constructed one of the most accurate LEGO buildings I’ve ever seen.

We love LEGO around here, and when you get to build real world stuff out of LEGO, I like it even better. I know nothing of architecture. Out of all the world’s architects, the only name I recognize and associate with specific designs is Frank Lloyd Wright.

Looks like Mario has given up his bid for the White House, and officially conceded the race to Super Obama. Like many among him, Mario is looking for change in the Mushroom Kingdom. No longer will he be led blindly into battle to “bring democracy” to the Koopas, nor will he stand for citizens resorting to eating mysterious mushrooms in lieu of a decent healthcare system.

I was tooling around over at Chicago’s Bucktown Arts Fest this past weekend, and thought to myself, what are the chances that I’ll actually stumble onto any good geeky crafts? But lo and behold, the first booth I step into had these great handmade robot ceramic cups.

This oooey-gooey delicious skeleton is made from the melted down old carcasses of cassette tapes. Artist Brian Dettmer created these guys for an exhibition at the International Museum of Surgical Science, right here in my hometown of Chicago.

I guess it doesn’t take much to amuse me these days. Pretty much put an image of Mario, Pac-man or the Space Invaders on anything handmade and I’ll bite. Today’s crafty goody is this felt mobile that pays tribute to Taito’s classic video game aliens.
