Get ready for another milestone in robotics, meaning scientists have achieved yet another feat that will help robots hunt us down and dominate the planet. In this case, The Dynamic Systems Lab at the Italian Institute of Technology has created the HyQ2Max, a powerful robot that can lift itself up onto its four legs, even if it falls.

Boston Dynamics has given us a nightmare before Christmas by releasing a video of three of its creepy-ass trotting robots. The only way this video could be more terrifying is if Hector from Saturn 3 was in the sleigh wearing Santa’s head and capturing all the hot blondes.

If Hector from Saturn 3 mounted the Atlas robot and had a baby, I think Diego-San is exactly what their love child would look like. It’s intensely creepy with its chubby-cheeked smiling face and mechanical body.

Imagine you are a kid, all dressed up for Halloween and trick or treating in your neighborhood. You approach a house with a strange large box out front. It has a window. The door on the box bulges outward and inside you see a zombie freaking out, trying to escape.

The most memorable thing for me about Alien and all the other films in the franchise isn’t the queen alien, it’s the facehuggers. The thought of something laying eggs inside of you that then eat your guts and burst out of you is creepy as hell.

Growing up, I always thought it would be awesome to get locked in a store all night and get to play with and eat anything I wanted. I never really thought about what it would be like if you were locked in a store and all those creepy mannequins came to life.

Halloween will be here before you know it. They already have Halloween stuff in the stores, and the giant Halloween pop-up store in my town is already open. That means it’s time to start thinking about what you want to dress up as.

I’ve seen plenty of things over the years out of Japan that made me say “WTF?” After all, this is the country where USB-powered things for magnifying your pimples are sold. I don’t think I have ever seen anything that makes me go “WTF?”

This Alien facehugger fritter looks all kinds of disgusting. It is absolutely terrifying. It probably fights you with every bite and swallow, twitching and finally being still when it hits your stomach. Donut? More like Do-not!

While Halloween is still almost six months away, I can think of no costume I’d rather be wearing this year than this awesome giant cat head. This amazing creation was made by artist Housetu Sato and a team of students from the Japan School of Wool Art, and it simply the most awesome / creepy / weird  thing you’ll see today.

Most Pokemon aren’t terribly frightening. Take Pikachu and Weezing, for example. One is a tiny yellow rodent with a goofy smile and Nutcracker-esque red cheek circles and the other is a pair of dull looking floating orbs.

This robot, developed at Professor George M. Whitesides’ lab at Harvard University has recently become untethered, so it is off the leash. This creepy crawler is super tough and can function in subzero temperatures, 40 km/h winds, puddles of up to 5 centimeters of water, and 3,000 Kelvin methane flames for up to 50 seconds.

Technabob has written about Pepper before, and the words published were the mixture of disgust and fear that only the uncanny valley and faux-telepathic robots can inspire. The basic premise is that this eerie, white robot’s soulless and vacant black eyes are always studying you and reading for signs of weakness your emotions (for signs of weakness).
