When I was growing up, my parents let me watch pretty much any movie I wanted when it came out on VHS. One of my favorites was RoboCop. Something about a cyborg robot with a gun that came out of his thigh was very appealing to my younger self.

Shawn Thorsson built himself a life-sized ED-209 for this year’s Maker Faire. It is awesome and scary. But not too scary. You gotta handle ED-209 just like you would a Dalek. Just run up some stairs as quick as you can.

I’ve seen my share of sci-fi movies and I know how giant robots can be pretty imposing. But these robots made from cut cardboard look like they couldn’t really do any damage – even the deadly, but tragically-flawed ED-209 from Robocop.

Would you like to own this massive ED-209 replica? Your move punk. Some guy is selling it on eBay for $25,000(USD). Hopefully you don’t live in Detroit or your purchase will be killed by Robocop.
