Last year we saw a couple of 13.3″ E-ink readers. Chinese company Dasung Tech used E Ink’s similarly-sized Fina electronic paper display (EPD) module to create a 1600×1200 USB monitor. It’s meant to be a secondary display and even has a detachable stand.

Last year, we featured the PaperTab, an extremely flexible E-ink reader prototype. PocketBook’s upcoming CAD Reader Flex isn’t as thin or flexible as the PaperTab, but it is real and will be available soon. It’s a 13.3″ e-reader that should be great for reading up to letter-size (8.5″ x 11″) documents at full size.

Dexter Industries makes a Raspberry Pi add-on called BrickPi, which connects the ultra cheap computer to LEGO’s NXT Mindstorms parts. To show off what you can do with its kit, they made a robot that reads eBooks aloud.

If you’re not ready to run out and buy one of Amazon’s new Kindles, three new devices have been added to the kobo eReader line. The three new eReaders include the Mini, the Glo and the Arc.

You may remember back before Apple jumped into the digital book market, digital books were cheaper. Amazon was selling a digital book for less money than a print book, and rightly so. When Apple stepped in and allowed publishers set their own pricing, retail prices of digital books went up everywhere.

The eReader market is booming – and while most of the eReaders out there use eInk screens that are in gray scale, one eReader from Barnes & Noble has a color screen. The eReader is called the Nook Color.

One of the first shooters that I ever played was Doom II. I can remember thinking how the graphics looked really cool at the time – but seeing them now would really make you realize how bad they sucked.

Patent suits are a very common annoyance in the tech world. Back in 2009, Spring Design filed suit against Barnes & Noble after B&N trotted out the Nook eReader with a similar dual-screen design. The Nook sells very well for B&N so they were fighting the suit with all they could.

I wanted an eReader really badly until I got my iPad. I like to read in spurts. I will go months where I read a book each week and then I will lose interest and not read for a month or so – and I find trips to the book store to be annoying.

I’m sure Technabob himself will have more information on ASUS’ new tablet offerings when he goes to CES next week, but for now we’ll just have to be content with these pics, specs and speculation from Tech in Style and Engadget.

I’m not sure why the Libre eBook reader makes me want to listen to Tenacious D and eat a big plate of nachos. Anyway, Borders has announced that it is now taking pre-orders on the Libre eBook Reader Pro.
