If you have ever seen photos of NASA rocket boosters in flight or in testing, you know that all you really see is a bright orange flare. It’s impossible to make out much in the way of detail.

Youtuber COOP3RDRUMM3R is seen here covering Ellie Goulding’s Burn. Naturally, he’s playing it with flaming drumsticks, which is the only way to play a song called Burn. Kids, don’t try this at home. This is a professional, or at least a mildly crazy person.

If you have watched How to Train You Dragon – and who hasn’t? – then you already know that the Night Fury dragon is pretty cool. Well, he just got cooler. How about the Night Fury dragon in your room as a lamp that breathes fire?

We’ve featured a pair of flame-throwing gloves before, but this variant by hand-mounted weapons expert Patrick Priebe is more compact and just as toasty.

I’m sure many of you have are familiar with the Rubens’ Tube, which is a device which works sort of like a VU meter, but with flames. But I have to say that this thing is even cooler.

This is one of the cooler LEGO projects I have seen, and if you are really into heavy metal or Dungeons and Dragons this is the project you will want to try and recreate. Just don’t burn your house down playing with the thing when you are done building.

All I’m going to say here is “do not try this at home”… The guys at J&M Special Effects put together a set of DIY flamethrowers that are mounted on his gloves, firing intense, scalding flames from the palms of his hands.

I’ve certainly seen plenty of trucks and emergency vehicles on the road with signs that say “do not follow,” but I never really understood why they say that. Now here’s a vehicle that really needs one of those signs.

I’m pretty sure if you strapped one of these insane looking flaming helmets to you head, you’d draw just the slightest bit of attention – from the fire marshall, at least. The crazy Flaming Thor helmet was created by Joey Andolina (aka “Andomation” aka “megaplow”), and he’s apparently been known to show up at Burning Man donning one of these himself.

I’m a bit surprised that this isn’t in Japan. Look at them pixel flames burn! That’s the new “torch” of the Motherland statue in Cherkassy, Ukraine. The statue is one of several Motherland statues built in several locations across the former Soviet Union to commemorate the people who fought or died in World War II.

Remember lava lamps? This modern update on the classic lava lamp does away with cords, instead promoting its ooey-gooey goodness using fire. London UK-based Mathmos is getting set to release their new Fireflow lava lamps. The lights eliminate the need for electricity, instead substituting the heat of a simple tea light candle.

Here’s a warning to all the bullies out there who like to make fun of nerds: don’t mess with people who can build flamethrowers out of LEGOs. See, all they need are some bricks and a bottle of butane, and they’ll be pwning your ass like a Pyro on a Spy.

While everyone is all abuzz about the new Kindle 2 Wireless E-Book Reader, we at Technabob still like to occasionally crack open an old-fangled hardcover or paperback. At least we now have a nice way to keep track of what page we left off on.
