Yesterday we saw a fan made 2D fighter featuring Pokémon. Here’s something that everypony can get behind: another fan-made 2D fighter, this time featuring the characters from the cartoon My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic.
Last year, Nintendo and Japanese developer Tecmo Koei threw Pokémon fans a curveball when they announced that the popular series will have a crossover tactical RPG for the Nintendo DS. It’s not such a bad or radical idea if you think about it, but if Pokémon is going to evolve into another type of game, this project by a dedicated fan makes much more sense.
Thanks to Kickstarter, we’ve become accustomed to constantly seeing fundraisers for new technology and promising gadgets. But a fundraiser at gaming forum Assembler is for an old, unfinished and possibly horrible piece of software: two copies of the Game Boy Color version of Resident Evil.
If you are a big fan of the Xbox 360 that we have today for gaming at home, you are probably very excited about all the rumors that have been surfacing about the Xbox 720. This is the name assumed to be for the next generation Xbox game console (which may also be called Xbox Next or something else entirely).
Remote Play – a feature that allows wireless access to the PS3 via a PSP or PS Vita – has yet to take off and is only compatible with a handful of PS3 games. We’ve already seen one man make a custom device that does just that with any PS3 game.
Anyone who’s played FPS games knows that they usually require a lot of precision sniping. That’s what Shogun Bros. were thinking when they developed their latest mouse, the Ballista MK-1. It was specifically designed for the sharpshooting FPS gamer.
I used to ride My Little Pony, until I took an arrow to the knee. Thankfully, I can still get some My Little Pony Action in a horrifying, flying little girl toy way. A geek going by the gibberish name zdzichorowerzysta, which I believe to be Russian for ZOMG… Ponies, has crafted what may be the cutest and strangest Skyrim mod yet.
Most adults these days have wisened up and refrain from clicking on banner ads that claim “You just one a prize!” or “You just won the 10,000,000th user award!” That means virus writers have to think of other measures to propagate their viruses and malware, and it seems that they’ve decided to go with the realm of free, online games targeted towards kids.
If you are a fan of the Mass Effect franchise, an interview that surfaced recently will make you giddy with anticipation. The new Mass Effect 3 game is coming before you know it and the devs of the game are saying that the new title will delve deeper into the story than ever before, and that Commander Shepard will get more emotion.
Not content with releasing an overpriced, gimmicky laptop, Razer continues to attract attention and hopefully customers by revealing a concept tablet aimed towards PC gamers. If that idea has you confounded, its codename – Project Fiona – won’t stop the head scratching.
Of all the games I have played the last few years, some of my favorite titles have been in the Mass Effect series. I really enjoy the way the franchise wraps shooting, adventuring, and RPG elements together to make a seriously slick and entertaining game.
If there’s one thing that gamers love, it’s Mario. And if there’s another thing that gamers love, it’s maps of virtual worlds. And if there’s just one more thing that gamers love, it’s T-shirts. If you want to have all three, then vote for Glen Brogan’s Ye Olde Mario World T-shirt design.
There were a lot of happy gamers when it was announced that Rockstar was bringing GTA III to the iPhone and Android devices out there. The game has been around for ten years now and was a huge seller on the PC.
To get more publicity for its upcoming MMORPG Age of Wulin, developer Snail Games held an online auction of one off in-game items. And more publicity they got, thanks to one die-hard and deep-pocketed fan, who paid $16,000 (USD) for a sword.
Even though many popular games on smartphones and tablets have great touch controls, there are still lots of games that would be easier to play with good old buttons and joysticks. Hence the popularity of products like stick-on buttons or joysticks.
