LEGO Guitar Hero Controller Rocks

LEGO Guitar Hero Controller Rocks
When I came across this Guitar Hero controller made out of LEGO blocks, I was impressed. But once I found out it was fully-functional, I was blown away. Built by LEGO fanatic David McNeely (aka Blue Star LEGOs), this is the third in his series of working Guitar Hero controllers. Modeled after a Fender Geddy Lee Jazz four-string Bass guitar, the controller uses the electronic guts of a standard GH guitar, placed delicately inside of a LEGO body. Every part of the controller works just like the original, including the fret buttons, strum bar, whammy bar and control buttons. Now all David needs to do is build a complete Rock Band LEGO edition.

Laptop Guitar Casemod Rocks
This has got to be one of my favorite casemods in a while. Guitar geek Ben Lewry had an old laptop lying around and decided to see if he could cram it inside of the body of an electric guitar. The end result is a slick, interactive music device called the LCDetar.

Old Guitar Gets New Life as iPod Dock
How about this for an innovative use for an old musical instrument? As part of a recycling challenge for this week’s London Design Festival, one design firm took this junked out Torre acoustic guitar and turned it into a stereo with an iPod dock. The Deptford Design Market Challenge encourages artists to re-purpose and recycle old found objects into new, functional items that you’d actually want to use.

Amidst her handmade menagerie of teddy bears, bunny rabbits and other cute critters, Delaware crafter Poisonholly created this seemingly out of place plush Guitar Hero 2 controller. Air Guitar: Lose the Guitar, Leave the Pick

Air Guitar: Lose the Guitar, Leave the Pick
A few weeks back I told you about an “air guitar” gadget that let you strum in the air holding on to what looks like just the neck of the guitar. Now, this new toy from Japan goes one better, completely eliminating the guitar and just leaving the pick. The Rock Tamashii is a rather cumbersome looking, oversize guitar pick with a built in speaker.
