I’ve rarely had to use a handset with my smartphone, maybe that’s because I don’t talk much on it, and most earphones tend to have built-in microphones, so they are perfectly capable of acting like handsets.
Remember that minimal Bluetooth handset? Well it looks like Woodguy32 has decided to put his own spin on the whole iPhone handset thing, with this steampunk-inspired dock. Except for the handset, most of this thing is made out of oak wood and brass, which is good, and it’s also really nice and retro.
If you’ve switched to using your cell phone as your main phone, and you’re kind of getting tired of it, then you should try this Bluetooth add-on handset/dock created by French designer David Turpin. It’s called the Moshi Moshi 03.
Designer Chengyuan Wei took apart a telephone handset and discovered that the important bits only took up a small space of the interior. So she thought of designing a handset that was materially efficient and lightweight, and this is what she came up with.
She calls her concept the Origami Handset, although I think it makes more sense to call it a pop-up handset.
There are a few desktop handsets for your iPhone, but this one is quite minimal, which makes it more attractive than some of the others out there. I guess something like this makes sense if you’re using the iPhone as your main home phone.
The “modern high heels” phone is the perfect gadget for the..uh..person who collects novelty handsets. What? People have collected far weirder things. At least this one is useful.
It would have been a funny device if the shoe was actually the phone, instead of this weird bloated inner foot form thingy.
On the plus side, it’s cheaper than most real high heeled shoes would cost you, selling for $22 (USD) over at gadget4all.
I’m really not sure who the target audience is for this odd mobile phone handset. Maybe it’s for people trying to quit smoking? Or is it for people who want to look like they’re smokers? Regardless, you sure will look goofy making your phone calls into this thing.
This ridiculous device plugs into your cell phone and lets you make calls by speaking into the cigarette box.
While I’ve seen plenty of retro handsets for mobile phones, this is the first one that I’ve seen which features wireless Bluetooth connectivity.
ThinkGeek’s exclusive new retro handset provides wireless connectivity to any Bluetooth enabled mobile phone.
