Harmonix is no stranger to music games, with hits like Rock Band and Dance Central to their credit. Now they have teamed up with Hasbro to bring us Dropmix. This time around you won’t need to purchase a bunch of plastic instruments to play – just cards.

If you ever played Rock Band, you might recognize the name Harmonix. Harmonix is the company behind that game, and word is that the company is working on a new music game. But time the game is said to also be a first-person shooter.

The guys working on Rock Band 3 revealed to USA Today that the new game will add new advanced gameplay modes for “pro” players – but the big news is…. drumroll, please… a keyboard! Yep, and this keyboard won’t just have five color-coded buttons on it.

It’s a new era for going behind the music or learning about making the band: VH1 is going to take us on a whole new journey about making the Rock Band… the Beatles Rock Band, to be specific, with a new making-of special dedicated to building the game.

Now being prepped for Rock Band‘s DLC catalogue, from the files of Songs You Grew Up Singing: a ten pack (!) of songs by legendary band Queen, just perfect for your next extremely silly Rock Band party.

Just in case you forgot about LEGO Rock Band, there’s a brand new trailer here to remind you, and to educate you on the epic and destructive fun of replacing traditional demolition with rock. The little scene that takes place during this gameplay clip is amusing, but it’s really the details that stick out to me, like the bricks on the note highway.

Rock Band is missing a lot of rock bands that seem like obvious inclusions, and one of them is the longlived band Green Day. But not to fret, fans–the trio is on its way to a set of little plastic instruments near you.

With the amazing popularity of music and rhythm games like Guitar Hero and Rock Band, it was only a matter of time before game companies would release a version targeted to more rural musical tastes. Later this Spring, Harmonix will release Washboard Hero, the newest game in the popular franchise on store shelves across the heartland of America.

I’m as addicted to Rock Band as the next gaming geek, but I still wish the strum bar on the game’s Fender Stratocaster felt more like a real guitar string. Now you get your hands on a mod kit which will let you swap out the plastic strum bar with an actual metal guitar string.

Now you’ll notice that I didn’t say you could PLAY Rock Band on your iPod. But if you’re willing to shell out some serious dough, you can now pick up the entire library of tracks from the hit game over in the Apple iTunes store.

Wii gamers rejoice! It was only a matter of time before it happened. EA has gone on record to say that the insanely popular Rock Band franchise is on its way to Nintendo’s great white console.

It looks like the full version of the highly-anticipated interactive music game Rock Band now has a price and release date. I was over on Amazon earlier today and came across this product listing: Listing a November 20th release date, the $199 “Rock Band Collection” for the Xbox 360 and PS3 looks like it’s a complete set that includes the game and all of the instruments.
