IKEA Desk Lamps Turned Upside Down to Make Chandelier

IKEA Desk Lamps Turned Upside Down to Make Chandelier
IKEA Hacker reader Jason is one very creative fellow who recently had one of those so simple it’s brilliant ideas: a chandelier is just a bunch of lamps hanging on the ceiling, so why not put a bunch of desk lamps together to make a chandelier? Salad Bowl Speakers Serve up Scrumptious Sound [IKEA Hack]

Salad Bowl Speakers Serve up Scrumptious Sound [IKEA Hack]

Personally, I prefer my salads to be made from anodized aluminum, magnets, and wire. Yum. UK modder HoopsOnToast was shopping at his local IKEA store when he realized the potential to make some nifty orb-shaped speakers by gluing together pairs of 8″ Blanda Matt solid birch hardwood bowls. The speakers get their sweet sound from a pair of full range (100Hz – 20kHz) Bandor 50mm drivers, mounted into the sliced-off face of one of the bowls. Word is that the cabinets sound simply brilliant, and they only took about 3 hours to put together.

Inky, Blinky, Pinky, Clyde and Ikea
I can’t tell you how many times I’ve bought a piece of furniture from Ikea, spent countless hours assembling it, only to have some slightly out-of-the ordinary use cause it to fail catastrophically. That’s exactly what happened to this artist when he overstuffed his drawers with his drawers and tried to move them.
