Designed and built by computer hardware manufacturer Cooler Master, the Orb X is an immersive gaming pod designed with luxury and comfort in mind. It kind of reminds me of Darth Vader’s meditation chamber, but with less wondering what the heck he does in there for hours at a time.

What good is virtual reality if it can still be distinguished from actual reality? So companies are hard at work trying to make the VR experience as immersive as possible. And one of those companies is Ekto One, which is developing a pair of VR boots that allow a user to actually walk without moving forward.

I love games where you get to battle it out with giant robot mechs. I grew up on MechWarrior and loved that game. However, I have never been a console gamer, which explains why I have never heard of Steel Battalion. 

A few months ago we found out about the Durovis Dive, a virtual reality gaming headset for Android smartphones. A similar device called vrAse is now looking for funding on Kickstarter. The company behind it claims that future versions will be compatible with all smartphones.

This VR technology provides for a completely immersive 3-dimensional experience by surrounding users in a cube of digital imagery, combined with stereoscopic glasses and motion-tracking hardware to provide for a dizzying ride through virtual environments. EON Reality’s ICube system uses an array of high-definition video projectors to bounce real-time CGI images into a cubic room covered with white screen surfaces.
