Most of the best games on the iPhone and other touchscreen mobile devices make use of touch input, but sometimes there’s just no substitute for button-based controls. Developers can always make up for this by using virtual buttons and keypads, but nothing beats physical controllers, which is why a variety of add-on or stick-on joysticks and buttons have popped up recently, like Donya’s gamepad stickers.

As addictive as the seemingly simple but obviously complicated Angry Birds game is, I wonder what will be next. It seems that creating new levels and birds isn’t what that will be. I think Tiny Wings is where it will be happening next.

You’re not seeing things. This is actually a photo of God of War 3 being played on an iPhone. The guys at pandaelf software have managed to put together a fairly complex implementation of their everyAir remote screen control system, which allows them to play PS3 games remotely on both an iPhone and an iPad.

I’m not a developer of accessories or gear for iOS devices, but I would have to imagine that much of the cost to develop the accessories would have to be the fees associated with Apple certification and the plugs and such you need to work with the docking connector.

BodyMedia unveiled their latest FIT Armband BW that will connect to your devices using Bluetooth. This means that it will connect to iOS devices, as well as cell phones, etc. It will collect information about how many calories are burned, steps are taken, and real time physical activity.

By combining an iOS device dock with a pico projector, the guys at WowWee will help you convert your iDevice into a mini home theater you can take anywhere you go. The Cinemin Slice has a reasonably bright DLP projector built into it, and all you need to do is slide your iPod, iPod Touch, iPod Nano, iPhone, or iPad into the dock, and you can project your video onto any spare wall you’ve got around.

I don’t like to wait for anything. That means I buy the gadgets I want as soon as they are in a store and I can walk out with them. That also means I end up stuck with gear that doesn’t always worked like I thought or lacks some of the features that later versions get.

So go figure that the largest iPhone ever built is actually made out of 56 iPads. It’s kind of awesome in its ridiculousness. The iPads have been slaved together to showcase the Lara Croft and the Guardian of Light iOS app.

iOS owners now have the option to view Flash videos on websites despite Apple’s refusal to support Flash in their mobile devices, thanks to Skyfire Labs’ Skyfire browser. The browser doesn’t actually play Flash videos straight off – videos are first transcoded on Skyfire Labs’ servers, then sent back to the browser for viewing.

ThinkFlood’s RedEye adaptors are popular alternatives to dedicated universal remotes. Just plug them into your iOS device and download the RedEye app and you’re good to go. On it’s own, the RedEye adaptor will work with most home theater appliances, but not with the PS3, because the console doesn’t have support for infrared controllers.

Apple rumor website LOOPRumors said on Tuesday June 22 that they received “a tidbit of information” suggesting that Apple is currently working on an iMac capable of running both OS X and iOS. In other words, a touchscreen iMac.
