The rear touch-panel is one of the most unique features of the Sony’s PS Vita. Now, a Minnesota-based company called Canopy wants to bring that same feature to the iPhone 4 and 4S with the Sensus, a protective case with built in capacitive touch sensors.

Have you ever run out of batteries on your iPhone? Maybe I should ask who hasn’t, because almost everyone I know runs out of batteries for their iPhone at some point. It has happened to me on occasion, and I’ve had to come home to recharge or find some laptop to leech off power, before heading back out again.

The iPhone 4 and 4S are expensive gadgets, and their glass plates look good but are also quite slippery, so it only makes sense for owners to protect them with cases. But most cases add bulk and obscure the beauty of the devices.

The Smartphone Notebook 2 from the Korean studio Nothing Design Group integrates your iPhone with a notebook – but I’m not talking about a laptop – it’s a paper-based notebook that has a special notch carved into all of its pages so that your iPhone can be cradled inside of it.

While it’s true that there are a lot of different iPhone cases out there to choose from, the selection can still get pretty boring. Not to mention the fact that there’s always the risk of running into someone who’s also using the same case.

I’m a fan of well-designed cases for iPhones, and this one seems to have been well-thought out. The most distinguishing aspect of this case is that it comes with a sort of lock which latches the case shut, protecting it even further.

While those of you up North are probably freezing or covered in snow, where I live the weather is actually starting to warm up. Of course, there’s still the occasional thunderstorm, but it’s mostly a whole lot of warm and sunny weather.

Remember those mood rings and love compatibility cards that s0ld like hotcakes because of their cool color-changing properties? You know, where the ring or strip on the card changes color from blue to red or green, depending on your mood or how compatible two people are with each other… not.

The Holga iPhone 4 Lens Filter Kit is the perfect way to turn your iPhone photography on its head, without having to rely on digital filter effects. Plus, it’s cheap enough that you won’t balk as offering it to someone on a gift exchange or as a stocking stuffer.

iPhones are great, but if you’ve ever tried to watch movies on one, it’s a pain. With a Retina display images look good, but the screen is just way too small. If you want to watch something good, it’s best to watch it on your flat screen TV – unless you want to project it onto the wall from your iPhone.

This isn’t really a case, but it’s a back that can be added to your iPhone, to protect it and to make it look different from all of the other iPhones. Killspencer’s Zebrawood Veil looks pretty handsome, since it’s trimmed to precisely line up with the back of your phone.

There are sustainable products, and then there are products that are made from recycled trash. The Miniwiz Re-Case is touted as being 100% made out of trash, which is amazing. The case is made from agricultural waste that stems from rice, which has been added to post-consumer thermo-plastics.

Earlier this year we featured a concept for an iPhone case called iShuttr that not only made the phone look like a camera but added camera functionality as well, such as a Xenon flash and shutter and zoom buttons.

We featured a line of cases for the iPhone 4 called iTattoo, but this odd customization deserves that name more, as tacky as it is. Made by Sirtified, the iTat creates a permanent etching into the back glass of the iPhone 4 (or 4S).

It’s not as high tech as the OmniTouch or the Sixthsense, but the Monolith case for the iPhone 4 is still innovative. Not only does it protect your phone, it also acts as an external battery pack and has a built-in projector.

A lot of other iPhone cases can make your device look pretty or make it more convenient or more functional. And then there are others that aren’t exactly cases but sort of function in a similar manner, like this belt buckle slash iPhone holster called the EXO7 that lets you slip your device easily into it so you can wear it around your waist.
