It’s not often that I get a chance to get my mitts on a product before it’s actually launched. Such was the case when the folks behind the Heacket reached out to me and asked if I wanted to try out one of their jackets.
I work in an office full of women who seem to have a completely different perception of temperature than I do. That means I sit in my office with sweat on my brow while they walk around with jackets on complaining about how cold it is.
Last year, Google’s Advanced Technology and Projects (ATAP) team unveiled Project Jacquard, which aims to make interactive clothing using conductive yarn and miniature electronics. At this year’s Google I/O developer conference, the company announced that it’s working with Levi’s to release the first consumer product based on Project Jacquard.
The Commuter Jacquard Trucker Jacket – actually it’s “Levi’s® Commuter™ x Jacquard by Google Trucker Jacket”, but try asking for that at a store – has a touch-sensitive cuff partially made of the aforementioned conductive yarn.
Ant Lucia’s pin-up style take on DC Comics’ heroines has expanded from statues, comic books and now a clothing line. Hot Topic’s officially licensed DC Comics Bombshells Collection features casual takes on the some of the sexy ’40s and ’50s costumes, including Batwoman’s baseball dress and Harley Quinn’s aviator jacket.
I’m sure talented cosplayers can make more stylish and accurate versions of the Bombshells’ costumes, but these aren’t that bad.
One of my favorite things about Persona 4 is that the characters wore ordinary clothes, even when they became supernatural investigators. They even changed outfits from time to time! And now we can rock some of their wardrobe, thanks to Insert Coin Clothing’s officially licensed collection.
The collection consists of 8 clothes and Chie’s pins, which look poorly made so I didn’t bother including them here.
CharlieMcN33l has two great loves in his life: Star Wars and his Harley. He has even customized special Star Wars helmets for himself. So naturally when he started using his X-Wing pilot helmet, he need a matching flight jacket to go with it.
Charlie usually wears a Carhartt Duck Detroit or a MA-1 Bomber when he rides, so he incorporated these into the new jacket, which is 60% X-Wing flight jacket, 30% Carhartt jacket, and 10% MA-1 Bomber jacket.
Be the bounty hunter you’ve always wanted to be with this super awesome and nerdy jacket. This Boba Fett windbreaker makes you look just like our favorite Mandalorian any time. You’ll have to supply the helmet and real jetpack yourself though.
The windbreaker features Boba Fett’s armor styling with embroidered details.
The Boncho is a poncho accessory that covers riders to protect them from the rain. It also neatly folds up for easy and compact storage. It’s not much of a fashion statement, but it will keep you dry.
What makes The Boncho unique is the way it covers your handlebars to keep your hands dry, which actually makes you safer too.
I’m still keen on Insert Coin Clothing’s PlayStation varsity jacket. But if you’re more of a Nintendo gamer, check out these jackets courtesy of Etsy shop Player1clothing.
Most of the shop’s jackets are Pokémon-themed – maybe because of the game’s gyms?
Insert Coin Clothing cashes in on the PlayStation’s 20th anniversary with these officially licensed unisex apparel. The collection plasters the original console’s dull gray color and four color logo into traditional jock gear: a varsity jacket and a basketball jersey.
A new Dutch clothing company called Spacelife is launching with a big bang. Its first product is a limited edition jacket inspired by the classic spacesuit. Sadly, as far as my budget is concerned getting it will launch me to a planet called Bankruptcy.
One of the coolest characters in the Guardians of the Galaxy movie was Star Lord. His entire life was set to an ’80s soundtrack that was awesome. If you want to get hooked on a feeling, a warm and comfy feeling, you want this hoodie.
Black Milk’s upcoming Princesses & Villains collection features some of Disney’s female characters. And the 101 Dalmatians for some reason. Frankly I’m surprised Disney approved to have their children’s characters juxtaposed with adult clothing. But I can’t deny that most of the clothes in the collection are wicked, like this badass Evil Queen bomber jacket.
The collection also includes dresses, skirts, shirts, blouses and of course Black Milk’s trademark swimsuits and leggings.
Despite it being Spring, it still feels like Winter in some parts of the country. You might as well go outside and pretend you are on Hoth. The question is, do you want to pretend you are Han Solo or Chewbacca?
