I was buzzing about over on Flickr earlier today when I came across this excellent Atari 2600 inspired pastry. While I normally wouldn’t eat a cake with black icing on it, this one looks too good to pass up.

If you’re gonna have a robot, why not have one that can play sports? This low-cost robot is designed specifically for playing robotic football tournaments. The RFL (Robotic Football League) Robot was created for playing football in tournaments with other robot enhusiasts.

This could very well be the best home arcade cabinet of all time. Not only does it include a fully decked-out arcade emulation system, complete with real arcade controls, it also happens to have a kegerator built in.

Bored with your old black or white Xbox 360 controller? How about pink or blue? I’m not sure if Microsoft is going for the whole “blue is for boys, pink is for girls” thing here, or just trying to give us a little color choice.

Console Mod Man Ben Heck is at it again. Now he’s taken the mammoth controller from an original Xbox, gutted it, and stuffed it with the contents of an Xbox 360 wireless controller. Other than a little Xbox Guide button he added between the “Back” and “Start” buttons and the built-in headset jack, you’d never know this wasn’t just a plain old Xbox controller.

Sure, there are plenty of companies making arcade cabinets these days, but I’ve never seen one quite like this. The cabinet is translucent and gives you a light show while you get your game on. In what’s probably the least subtle cabinet design ever made, Official Game Haven’s CrystalCade arcade system is loaded up with tons of brightly- colored LEDs which cycle through various programmable patterns.

Here’s an interesting new gaming controller design from Saitek. The new Cyborg PP26 Rumble Gamepad controller lets you swap the positions of the left analog sitck and digital joypad. This seems like a great idea, since it seems the position of those controls is a highly individual preference.

Thanks to this new arcade controller for the Wii, fans of classic arcade games will be able to play them the way they were meant to be played. Hori’s new Arcade Fighting Stick for the Nintendo Wii looks pretty nice, with a large 8-way digital stick and 8 gaming buttons.

You won’t have any trouble finding the buttons on this massive replica of Nintendo’s famous NES controller. Game fan Philip Torrone and his team of builders put together this 5-foot wide joypad for the recently completed 2007 Maker Faire.

I recently had the opportunity to sit down with the X-Arcade Tankstick home arcade controller and put it through its paces. It’s definitely worth a look for you die-hard arcade gamers out there. Let me start off by saying that the Tankstick is a one mammoth controller.

If you’re into classic arcade games, you might want to check out this new home arcade gaming system from DreamAuthentics. Each Katana personal arcade system is custom assembled, so you can pick your own selection of console graphics and marquees, as well as the control scheme.

This fun and funky candleholder by Mixko is inspired by a timeless classic, the Atari 2600 joystick. Designers Alex Garnett and Nahoko Koyama are expected to show these at the upcoming ICFF contemporary furnishings show in New York later this week.

Fans of arcade games should definitely give this new arcade cabinet a look. Dream Arcades latest system is loaded to the gills with features, yet is very reasonably priced as home arcade systems go. The $1799 Dreamcade 2.0 is a Windows-based arcade system with over 145 licensed games pre-loaded.

The SEGA Virtua Stick High Grade Controller is a must buy if you’re serious about your fighting games. Originally available only in Japan, the controller is available worldwide from importer Play-Asia, so you can play with the big boys now.

A couple of years back, Immersion sued Sony for $91 million for infringing on their patents when they made their Dual Shock controllers for the PlayStation 2. The company claimed that Sony was using patented force-feedback technologies without paying royalties.

Don’t care for the clean design of the PS3’s SIXAXIS controller? Why not make it super fugly with these analog joystick covers from Japan. These oddly textured silicon caps attach to the top of the PlayStation 3’s analog sticks, supposedly protecting the thumbsticks and providing grip, all while making your controller the ugliest one on the block.
