GeekUnique’s formula for making geeky iPhone/iPod Touch docks is simple: if it’s a classic gaming peripheral, it’s a dock. Hence the shop’s N64 controller dock, Atari cartridge dock and PlayStation controller dock. However, that formula may have failed with this one:
Maxconsole got a couple of videos from console-modders XCM showing the latter’s prototype light gun for the PS3. It’s basically half of a PS3 controller stuck to a light gun. I think XCM is shooting for a controller that’s compatible with all shooters, hence the need to come up with something with a sizable amount of buttons.
The Dark Ops Wii Light Gun seems to have been designed with two kinds of people in mind: a) the kind of people who want to play every Wii game with a gun (i.e. the people I didn’t know existed) and b) people who want to inject some sort of action-movie-style flair into their Wii gaming.
Here’s who didn’t design the Dark Ops Wii Light Gun: people who design guns.
Here’s another retro game console mod that’s sure to draw stares. This modder managed to cram a Nintendo NES 8-bit game system into a light gun controller.
Go figure that no actual Nintendos were harmed in the making of this system.
What better way to literally wear your (Duck Hunt-smitten) heart on your sleeve than with this vinyl NES Light Gun cuff?
You can purchase this sexy/nerdy item from bettydeath on Etsy for 20 bucks. She’s clearly a little quirky.
Sure, it’s old news by now that you can install a Nintendo NES emulator on a hacked iPhone and play classic games. But now, thanks to the hard work of a very industrious web developer, we can play at least one Nintendo classic WITHOUT any special software or hacks.
