You know what? I’m surprised that they never came up with a vaccine for Pac-Man Fever. I mean, I’ve had it for nearly four decades, and it’s not getting any better. I suppose if you’re still a Pac-Man fan like me, you might want something like this sweet Pac-Man-themed synthesizer by Swedish artist and vintage gadget fan Love Hultén.

Designer Love Hulten has created some truly amazing pieces of retro-inspired technology, from arcade cabinets, to computers, to giant LEGO replicas. Love’s latest build is unlike any that has come before it. The EvoBoxx is a visual synthesizer that’s designed around the classic cellular simulation Game of Life.

Back in the day, most of the games in arcades were stand-up cabinets, but a few were sit down table style games. I don’t remember ever seeing wall mounted arcade games back in the day, but there are a handful of them available these days.

A few months ago we checked out Love Hultén’s PE358, a retro handheld inspired by the Game Boy Advance SP. It seems like that got a lot of people’s attention, because Love is now offering the Pixel Vision, a limited edition production version of the PE358.

While Love Hultén’s retro-futuristic wooden machines are inspired by past gadgets, they usually still end up being distinct and fresh. But for one of his recent projects, Love opted to make a straight up replica of a classic computer.

Retro gadget maker Love Hulten recently showed off two of his latest creations, both of which are gaming systems. The PE358 is a Nintendo emulator inspired by the Game Boy Advance SP, while the Battlecade is a kickass two-player arcade machine inspired by the likes of Battleship.

The Pixelkabinett 42 is Love Hulten’s latest furniture inspired retro-futuristic computer. It’s a two-player arcade cabinet based on “old industrial cabinets, vintage mixing consoles and early space travel.” The cabinet itself is made of ash and American walnut.

Boutique PC maker Love Hultén is known for building computers inspired by 20th century furniture. But his latest masterpieces are based on toys, LEGO to be specific. Love’s The Brix System are wonderful 6:1 scale functioning replicas of LEGO gadgets from the ’70s and ’80s Space sets.

Last year we drooled over Love Hulten’s R-Kaid-42, a wooden arcade console. Love has a new piece for us to wish for this year. He calls it the R-Kaid-R, a self-contained portable arcade machine. It has an 8″ 800×600 display, a rechargeable battery that lasts up to 8 hours and a beautiful wooden case that makes it look like an artifact from an alternate past.

Swedish artist Love Hultén continues to marry classic furniture with computers. One of his latest projects is Tempel, a modern workstation inspired by 19th century writing desks. It combines a workbench, a large drawer and a computer in one elegant piece of wooden furniture.

I guess you could say that most old arcade machines were made from wood, but it was mostly laminated pressboard, covered with shiny vinyl decals. Designer Love Hultén’s latest arcade build offers a much more timeless wooden styling.

The 4M is another retro wooden computer from Swedish artist Love Hultén. Unlike his earlier creation Sputnik 0667, which was an all-in-one PC, the 4M has a more conventional tower and monitor set up. Hulten counts steampunk and HAL 9000 from 2001: A Space Odyssey as the influences behind this lovely computer.

You know me. I’m a sucker for computer casemods. Despite the fact that the Sputnik 0667 looks like some sort of Russian television from the 1950s or 1960s, it actually is a fully-functional Windows PC.
