The latest lighting creation from the UK house of Mathmos is definitely unusual. Designed to look like a couple of globby alien heads, Blob and Flow are what Mathmos calls “touch-sensitive light pets.” I just call them “weird, but cool.”
Remember lava lamps? This modern update on the classic lava lamp does away with cords, instead promoting its ooey-gooey goodness using fire.
London UK-based Mathmos is getting set to release their new Fireflow lava lamps. The lights eliminate the need for electricity, instead substituting the heat of a simple tea light candle.
UK lighting maker Mathmos’ latest creation combines modern technology with eco-conscious wind power to create light without need for batteries or plug-in power.
These Wind Lights measure in at just under 8″ tall, but they work just like their bigger windmill cousins, generating electricity through the power of air.
The Poplight is the latest LED lighting fixture to come from Mathmos, the same guys responsible for the original Lava Lamp back in the 1960s.
Each Poplight is made from handblown glass and gradually fades between shades of blue, purple, violet, magenta, red, and back.
If you happen to have your cell phone ringer turned off, and you don’t care for the “vibrate” setting, you might want to check out these nifty things from London’s Mathmos.
These tiny Light Charms clip onto your mobile phone and blink whenever a call is coming in (thanks to those lovely radio frequency emissions.)
Designer Richard Lawson has created the oh-so-simple LED lights that clip on the top of an ordinary 9-volt battery.
Originally designed for a Mathmos-sponsored design competition, they’re now available for you to purchase for the first tim.
