If you got excited at the idea of that sweet Jurassic World raptor toy that was on sale back in December, Mattel’s latest dino might also float your boat. At the 2018 New York Toy Fair last month, it unveiled an awesome toy called the Destroy ‘N Devour Indominus Rex from Jurassic World.

Pictionary is usually played by drawing on a sheet of paper or maybe a whiteboard. Now, we have a new way of playing the game by drawing in the air. No, not with your finger. Mattel has announced a new high tech version of the game, called Pictionary Air.

When I was a kid, I used to play the heck out of that Mattel Pocket Football game. I always sucked at kicking, but I was quite adept at running down the field fast as hell.

Anyone who didn’t grow up back in the early ’80s doesn’t really understand how awesome it was when video games started hitting the scene. In those days, if we found a quarter in the road, we were in the gas station arcade 60 seconds later.

If there was ever a better name for a 3D printer than “3D printer”, it would probably be ThingMaker. So it’s no surprise that the accidentally prescient toymaker Mattel is relaunching its brand as exactly that.

Toys sure have come a long way. Get ready for tiny cars that are piloted by real living insects. No joke. Why would your kid want to control their toy themselves when they can enslave an insect? They could have released yet another smartphone-controlled RC toy, but no, Mattel’s Bug Racer doesn’t even let kids control their racer.

A few years back, my neighborhood was a dangerous place. There were roving bands of 8-year-olds armed with all the latest dart-firing weapons. They had nothing better to do than lie in wait in the bushes laughing with childish glee as they waited for you to walk out your door so they could shoot you in the balls.

Google and toymaker Mattel are taking the classic View-Master toy to its logical evolution by relaunching it as a virtual reality headset for kids. Instead of holding cardboard disks, the new View-Master holds a smartphone and has a pair of lenses built-in.

Last year we saw a fabric oven mitt that looked just like Nintendo’s infamous Power Glove. Pete Hottelet is raising funds on Indiegogo for a very similar product. Also named the Power Mitt, Pete’s take is made of silicone rubber and thus should be more heat-resistant than the other mitt.

There are two kinds of people in this world. The ones who call the Ghostbusters and the ones who do the actual ghostbusting. If you want to be a part of the latter, you’d better have the right equipment.

While I’m sure most of you never had the *cough* pleasure of actually playing a game with the Nintendo/Mattel Power Glove, you can certainly pick a working one up over on eBay if you’ve got about $100 kicking around.

After decades of scarring girls by giving them an impossible ideal of beauty, body issues and eating disorders, it’s nice to see that Barbie will now be doing something productive – preparing them for the eventual zombie apocalypse.

It took a while, but finally we’ve got Hot Wheels with tiny POV video cams built-in. You can even watch the footage from your Hot Wheels directly on a small screen underneath the toy car.
