Nintendo has bee working from early on to position the new Nintendo Wii U game console as more than just for gamers. To emphasize this point, the console has launched with a number of entertainment applications for streaming video.

The guys at iFixit are at it again. Within minutes of the release of any new gadget, it seems as if they’ve already got theirs in hand, and ripped open for the world to see. With the Wii U out for just one day, they’ve already broken out the surgical tools and splayed out its guts so you don’t have to.

If you live in Europe and have someone on your Christmas list who wants a new Nintendo 3DS XL, you’ll have a couple of new options to choose from in time for holiday shopping. The most interesting of the new 3DS XL consoles is one that Pokémon fans will love.

Mike Hoye has recently been playing The Legend of Zelda: Wind Waker with his 3-year-old daughter Maya. He read the narration on screen to her, but because he wants Maya to be the hero, he changed all the nouns and pronouns that refer to Link to female ones.

The new Nintendo Wii U is coming to stores in North America on November 18th, but you can see exactly what you’ll be getting in the box thanks to the fine folks at Nintendo, who have decided to shoot their own early unboxing video, with Nintendo president Satoru Iwata doing the honors.

You might recall musician Diwa de Leon from his entertaining and amusing performances of the Legend of Zelda and Super Mario Galaxy music. Well, Diwa is back, and this time he’s formed a new musical group – the Mini Mario Orchestra.

It seems Nintendo has taken Wesley Snipes’ advice and bet on black. Nintendo has announced that it will be launching a new black version of the 3DS XL, known as the 3DS LL in Japan, on November 1.

Look at this beautiful console. It may look like it’s from the 1890’s, but it is just another modern mod that is beautifully done. And no, it doesn’t run on steam (though it would be cool if it did.)

Maybe it was because of Super Mario 64, but I always thought the Nintendo 64 was one of the best consoles Nintendo ever made. But it was always sort of big and clunky. And while these days, you can emulate the console on a tiny handheld, there’s still nothing quite like playing with the original cartridges and the original controller.

A bit of bad news has turned up concerning the new Nintendo Wii U game console set to launch later this year. Nintendo recently disclosed that the new game console will be region-locked. This means that the console will not support video games purchased outside of the console’s home region.

We’ve featured some mechanical versions of arcade games in the past, but I think this is my new favorite. That’s because this real-world version of Donkey Kong is actually controlled by an NES gamepad. That just makes it that much more awesome.
