Projector maker Optoma today announced a new high definition projector which makes full 1080p resolution more affordable than any of their previous models. Optoma’s new HD80 projector will retail for just $2999 when it’s released this July, but will pack in video quality usually reserved for much more expensive projectors.

At this week’s CEDIA show, Optoma unveiled a new projector capable of displaying widescreen 16:9 high definition 720p images for just $999 USD. The Optoma HD70 projector features a single 0.62-inch DarkChip2 DLP chipset from Texas Instruments.
