The new Pentax K-01 was designed by Marc Newson, and it definitely has a different look from ordinary cameras. You’ve got a nice assortment of colors to choose from to make this mirror-less camera distinctive. Newson also collaborated on the design of the base 40mm F2.8 lens, which is 0.36 inches in width, just large enough for a manual focus ring.

Pentax has a bunch of cameras under its belt and the company has trotted a new one out today that looks verty cool. If you like a camera with high quality photo capability and interchangeable lenses but you want the thing to be small, the new Pentax Q might be for you.

I’ve been thinking about investing in a good DSLR for a long time now, but I never really committed or made good on it. First, because I don’t know squat about ISOs and post-processing. And second, because I get intimidated to pieces whenever I walk inside the camera shop and see rows and rows of huge, black SLRs just waiting to be lifted back home.

I am a modder by nature. I don’t like my stuff to look like anyone else’s. I like my computers to be customized, my car is far from stock, and I’d mod my house if the tools in the homeowners association would allow it.

Personally, I’d never pay extra money for a special-edition DSLR, no matter who sponsors it – especially a mid-level model like this Pentax. This is a Pentax K-r that comes with a special limited edition, the Bonnie Pink model.

Pentax is a huge name in the camera business and the company usually makes the plain-Jane digital cameras and DSLRs you expect form a big name company that doesn’t rock the boat. The latest camera unveiled by the company nearly sinks the boat though with a cover that you can attach building blocks too.

I have a friend that fell four feet the other day and broke his leg half off. Well, maybe not half off but enough that no one wants to hang out with him until he stops whining about it.

Sure, digital cameras are a dime a dozen these days. With even some of the most expensive cameras made out of cheap plastic and aluminum, it’s nice to finally see a camera that at least LOOKS as substantial as its price.
