Red Dead Revolver‘s dueling mode was one of the game’s unique features. It attempted to emulate the feeling of tension by making the player go through a timing-based mini game. But what if you could actually go through the motions of a duel itself?
Using a variety of visual tricks, including projection mapping, props, and motion-tracking, Sony managed to create some of the most mind-blowing visual illusions I’ve ever seen on video, bringing to life a sort of virtual “holodeck” for us to feast our eyes on.
We can always rely on the guys at CTA Digital to show up at CES with some goofy add-on for gaming consoles. This year is no different, and they’re showing a variety of silly business. My personal favorite (next to these inflatable karts for Mario Kart) is their bowling ball add-on for the various motion-controlled games out there.
Those crazy cats over at iFixit are always tearing stuff up. If I break stuff, I tend to get in trouble, but when they do it, seems all of geekdom pays attention. I like getting to see what is inside the controllers and there is surprisingly less stuff inside than I expected.
Here’s a sharp contrast to the Kinect demo I talked about yesterday. IGN’s Executive Editor Greg Miller got to try out the PlayStation Move. Unfortunately Miller only had a tech demo with him, unlike yesterday where we saw some wonderful graphics courtesy of Forza.
Sony today took the wraps off of their new PlayStation Move controller system, their much-anticipated answer to the Nintendo Wii-mote and Microsoft’s Project Natal.
The PlayStation Move is actually a set of motion controllers, sort of like the Wii-mote and Nunchuk.
