This is definitely not how Sony wanted it to go down, but here it is – pictures of a prototype of the upcoming Sony Ericsson PlayStation Phone have been leaked. It’s not surprising that Sony went the PSP Go route, given it’s slim form factor still allows for a relatively large screen – about 3.7 to 4.1 inches in this case.

A Japanese media retailer called Geo reportedly revealed that a Sony PSP-4000 would be coming out this year. I say “reportedly” because the leak is in Japanese; the PSP-4000 is mentioned at the bottom of the chart you see below.

A source has told video game news site CVG that Logitech is currently working on “a UMD drive add-on” for the PSP Go. Commence laughing. A representative of Logitech’s UK office told CVG that they’re not aware of any such product, so “… it may be something the US office is working on.” If this UMD drive does come out, let’s hope that Logitech (or Sony) includes software that can rip UMDs so that people can transfer their UMD-based games to the PSP Go’s memory.

RPGs are traditionally long and epic in scale for lots of good reasons, but a lot of RPGs have elements that add unnecessary length to the gameplay, like unskippable walls of text, unnecessarily slow-ass modes of transport and/or huge maps, quests with insane requirements, and of course the grinding.

Joystiq asked Eric Lempel, Director of PlayStation Network Operations, if Sony would ever bring Trophies – the equivalent of Xbox 360’s Achievements – to the PSP. Upon hearing the question, Lempel fell on his knees and screamed, “Daaaamn youuu Salazaaaaaar!” No.

Everyone’s getting into the digital camera accessory business, what with add-ons available for the Playstation 2, Xbox 360 and Nintendo DS, the PSP was starting to feel left out. That said, Sony’s entry into the fray seems a little anemic at first glance.
