The chainsaw-equipped Lancer rifle from Gears of War is a favorite among prop makers, but Ryan Palsen and his wife Dena – known together as Kronos Props – just put another weapon from the series in the spotlight.

Remember J.J. Abrams’ movie Super 8 that came out last summer? I thought it was a great popcorn flick, and really captured the feel of those late 1970s/early 1980s science fiction movies like Close Encounters and E.T. 

The Neuralyzer is one of the most powerful gadgets in science fiction, able to erase memories in a flash. So I guess it’s a good thing that Factory Entertainment’s 1:1 scale replica of the Men In Black’s signature tool doesn’t actually work, unless you’re looking to blind someone temporarily.

Proof that even robotic suits have a corpse: a dismantled Iron Man Mk. II suit. I’m sure most of you who’ve seen Iron Man 2 can still remember the scene where James Rhodes (played by Don Cheadle) took one of Tony Stark’s armor to a military base and tore it down to see how it works.

This amazing-looking Warhammer 40,000 Space Marine Terminator helmet was created by Shawn Thorsson, and it’s hard to believe, but it started off as a papercraft model. I knew that you could do many things with paper, but this has to be one of the most ingenious ways of creating amazing props.

A while back, there was an opportunity to purchase one of the original hoverboards from Back to the Future II, but that one sold for over $22,000 at auction. Here’s a chance for you to own your own, at a fraction of that price.

We were just saying how you might be able to output your own robotic limbs using 3D printing, but if that’s too advanced for you, why not buy yourself an already fully-functional Terminator arm instead.

There’s nothing like a good geek weapon to get me drooling, and this prop gun based on the M-29 Incisor Rifle from Mass Effect 2 has me salivating in spades.

Remember that awesome Big Daddy NERF gun I told you about last week? Well since that gun has long-since been snatched up by some lucky buyer, the guy who made it is back with another awesome wooden weapon.

This steampunk wooden gun is just about the most awesome thing I’ve seen in quite some time. Not only does it look amazing, but it actually works – as a NERF gun.

Halloween may still be over a month away, but it’s never too early to start figuring out how you’re going to scare the crap out of trick-or-treaters, right?

I’ve always wanted one of those ray-guns that Marvin the Martian had in Duck Dodgers in the 24½th Century.  While you might not be able to disintegrate a cartoon duck with these prop ray-guns, you’ll still look just as bad-ass as Marvin did (except you won’t have his helmet).

Prop maker/Flickr member/likely Aperture Science engineer Chris Myles – who also made these Portal 2 Personality Cores – has brought Cave Johnson’s absurd metaphor to life, although the Aperture Science CEO will be disappointed when he finds out that these grenades are not only made of fake lemons, they’re also not lethal.

Portal-mania continues to sweep the land, and I have to give mad props to Ryan Palser of Kronos Props for his entry into the Portal fray – an accurate replica of the turret from the games.

Here’s a replica of the damaged brain chip that was recovered from the T-800 that Sarah Connor crushed in the first Terminator movie. This brain chip “provided the basis for all of the research and development carried out by Cyberdyne Systems”, and ultimate led to Judgment Day.
