Taiwan-based Ultmost Technology makes all sorts of gadgets, from talking tire gauges to automatic Muslim prayer watches. But they also have A/V equipment, like the Fuss LC-4212 B 42″ LCD TV. Perhaps because there are already hundreds of LCD TVs out in the market, Ultmost Technology tried to make their product stand out.

Battery life is always an issue with portable gaming systems, especially with the PSP’s power-sucking UMD drive. You can always buy a second battery, but what if you also own a DS? Well if you own both then I guess you have enough money to buy a second battery for that one too.

Sometimes, the best things in life… well, they aren’t free, but they can come with minimal effort, at least. Apparently, on the scale of PSP mods, this paintjob/LED-addition combo is only “average” difficulty. …to which I say, well this might be a simpler mod if you happen to be an experienced modder.

After 4 years of playing second-fiddle to the Nintendo DS, the Sony PSP finally has something that the DS doesn’t. A candy version. And no, this thing doesn’t count. Check out these officially-licensed PlayStation Portable candies, loaded up inside a metal tin that looks just like a PSP.

CES ’09 is in full swing, and one of the products on display at the show is Powermat Ltd.’s Powermat. The Powermat isn’t a phone or a big screen TV; it’s just a charger. But what makes it stand out is that it charges devices wirelessly; the largest model can even accommodate 4 devices at once.

If you can’t exist without the weight of several handheld gaming systems tugging at your pants, Brando has a new product that will make your downtime a little easier: the 7-in-1 USB charge cable. With this cable, you can use one USB slot to charge any Sony PSP or Nintendo GBA, as well as all models of the Nintendo DS.

If you’re a geek or a techie among ignorant friends, here’s something you can try for a few laughs. Or a few punches in the face. Playboy21 of psp-hacks has cooked up a tiny program he calls TrickBrick.

Sure, this portable gaming system might LOOK just a little bit like the Sony PSP, but don’t expect it to play any games made in the last 15 years. Another in a long line of cheap Chinese knock-off systems, the 2PG TC8281 handheld plays a mish-mash of questionable 8-bit and 16-bit retro games that come only on special multi-game cartridges.

I used to think that today’s handheld gaming systems were small enough. But now that I’ve seen these tiny little Nintendo DS Lite and Sony PSP doppelgangers, I’m wondering if playable consoles could get even smaller someday.

Now don’t get me wrong. Other than the stupid analog controller, I really like the industrial design of the Sony PSP. But I’m not sure it warrants other gadget manufacturers going out and making their devices look just like it.

These replacement covers for the Sony PSP give the portable console an ethereal glow. Just place your PSP in daylight for a few minutes, and then switch off the lights and watch your system glow. The XCM Magic Night Glow face plate attaches onto the front of your Sony PSP (slim model only), and look totally different when the lights are off than on.

These may look like your typical cheap schlock shop knock-offs of popular gadgets, but they’re much more devious than that. You see, while they may bear a slight resemblance to a certain portable gaming system, media player and a dime-store pocket laser, they’re actually practical jokes that deliver a nasty shock.

Ever find yourself running out of juice in your mobile gadget? Leave it to the wizards at Japan’s Thanko to come up with a new way to keep your devices charged long beyond their standard battery capacity.

I’m not sure why anyone would want to do this, but some guy has managed to interface his PSP with the Nintendo Wii motion-sensing controller. PSP hacker joesnose MacGyvered together a combination of the GlovePIE, iRShell and Nethostfs libraries to make it all play nicely.

While Sony has made it pretty clear that a touchscreen interface won’t be part of the PSP any time soon, that hasn’t stopped modders from trying to make it so. Thanks to the folks over at Spark Fun Electronics, that task just got a whole lot easier.
