Sometimes when you’re on a plane, you’ll experience a piercing pain around your ears shortly after takeoff or descent. Usually, the pain subsides in a few minutes, with relief preceded by the sensation of your ears “popping.”

The SlideRider looks like a lot of fun. It is basically a set of connected folding mats that turn an ordinary staircase into a slide. It will be so crazy fun that you won’t want to stop there.

The fragile nature of the traditional piggy bank was meant to force you to save your money until you really needed it, but it also meant you couldn’t count how much you already saved unless you break the thing open.

You can tell a lot about a person’s mood or disposition by observing his or her body language. For example, when a person’s pissed off or annoyed at you, then their arms are most likely crossed over their chest.

Cameras being sent to the edge of space are nothing new, but it requires a bit of tinkering skills to set up the balloon and camera mount. Quirky wants to help more people send their cameras to space, which is why they made the Kepler Space Kit.

Here’s an alternate take on activity trackers, courtesy of the Quirky hive mind. Instead of coming up with a device that can track multiple activities, the Revolve is a one-trick pony. It’s a smart jump rope that can track your progress and vital stats as you jump on said rope.

We’ve featured a number of awesome geeky wall decals and posters, but if you want to see something new everyday you might want to help Wallbrights become a real product. It’s a modular stick-on multicolored lighting solution that can be controlled via an app.

And so, Coca-Cola’s ingenious advertising campaigns continue. Remember their ‘Open Happiness’ vending machines that gave people free coke for a hug? This time around, they didn’t give out free drinks. This time, it was a complete meal – plus an awesome experience that they can tell their grandchildren about in due time.

I know a lot of PC gamers also splurge on high end speakers for their gaming rigs, while others prefer to use headphones or headsets. If you use both – or several of both – on your computer, I suggest you check out the Siphon.

The first thing most people do when they get home is flick the lights on. The last thing they do before they leave for work or to go out is flick the lights back off. Light switches nowadays are designed to make this process easy.

If you think milk crates are just for transporting milk around, then think again. Because if industrial designer Jenny Drinkard has her way, then we’ll be using them for DIY modular storage as well.

Nothing sucks more than taking out that carton of milk from the refrigerator early in the morning and noticing that it expired the day before yesterday. Not only is it a waste of otherwise good milk, it also gives you a bad start to your day if it really tastes spoiled.

I don’t think finding space for a toaster has ever been, or would ever be a prevalent problem, but that’s because I’m fine with placing appliances on the floor if I have to. But if you live in a tiny apartment or room and have a sense of decency you might appreciate the idea of a collapsible toaster.
