DARPA has awarded contracts for a new program it’s calling “Gremlins.” But before you get all excited about the government funding murderous creatures that start as adorable Mogwai that turn bad if you feed them too late at night, DARPA’s Gremlins are unmanned flying drones that can be launched and recovered by a C-130 in mid-air.

A pair of space geeks recently set about creating what they claim is the first true-to-scale physical model of our solar system. The duo of Wylie Overstreet and Alex Gorosh headed out to a dry lake bed in Nevada to create their project with the goal of showing us just how vast our own solar system is.
The guys started by placing an inflatable ball at the center point to represent the Sun, then placed a marble-sized Earth one scale astronomical unit from the it – in this case, about 577 feet.

NASA has announced a new virtual experience that will let you get behind the controls of the Curiosity rover, without risking crashing it into a Martian ditch. The tool is called Experience Curiosity and it is an interactive website built using actual data gathered from Curiosity and the MRO.
