This speaker, called Ode to Beethoven, lets you to dock your mp3 player in a stone bust of Beethoven’s head. Ode to Beethoven was designed by UK artist Fiona Thomson. It’s part of a series of projects that combine classic artistic aesthetics with modern technology.

Got a bunch of old electronic parts lying around? While they might end up in the trash heap for many of us, artist Ann P. Smith sees new life in old junk. Smith takes broken down electronics and machine parts to create her amazing menagerie of animal and insect sculptures.

Actually, despite their size, these styrofoam robots look pretty docile. In fact, you could probably take down an attacking Styrobot with a well-placed karate chop or two. With the largest of his creations towering overhead at 22-feet tall, Michael Salter’s packing foam robot sculptures are a sight to behold.

What did the big robot say to the little robot? “Get in me belly!” At least that’s the way this amazing automaton works. The larger-than-life wood and metal robot features a tiny little robot inside its gut, and it looks like he’s the real brains of the operation.

At first glance, this sculpture might look like it’s made out of LEGO blocks, but it’s actually an intricate handcrafted work of art by Swedish sculptor Thomas Broomé. The artist’s Low Res Man was fabricated from thousands of precisely arranged 1cm see-through acrylic cubes, then painted to look like a real person when viewed from a great distance.

This custom made toy by artist/sculptor Doktor A is a wondrous tribute to the classic arcade game, Pac-Man. The one-of-a-kind sculptural toy is entitled “The Secret History of Video Games: Pac Gentleman”. It almost reads like a steampunk version of the 1980s dot-muncher, what with its crank-driven game play and wooden and metallic accents.

Remember those full-scale Big Daddy statues that I told you about a few months back? Well it looks like you can have one of these creepy characters in your own living room if you’re willing to pony up the dough.

Sculptor Rodger Stevens and designer Mark McKenna created these flowing modern mobiles which embed elegant modern illumination into their design. Originally designed as a large-scale art installation, a smaller version of their Orchadia mobiles are now available for purchase.

I came across this cool 3-dimensional LEGO sculpture of everyone’s favorite video game plumber (sorry Luigi) over on TechEBlog this morning. It must have take days for the artist to painstakingly recreate all of Mario’s details.

These 3D cubes by James Clar & Associates display 3-dimensional images across an array of 1000 LEDs arranged in a grid structure. Previously, the designs were only shown at galleries and exhibitions such as Wired’s NextFest.
