She may not look like much, but she’s got it where it counts kids: The DC-Falcon was crafted by Steve Perry aka pezzapoo. Apparently the cult classic console and Perry’s Millenium Falcon toy were perfect for each other.

For those of us who grew up during the video game era, I think we all know that hedgehogs are blue, and thrive on a steady diet of shiny golden rings. Now you can show off your astute knowledge of the animal kingdom with one of these t-shirts.

SEGA today announced Genesis Ultimate Collection for the iPhone. The new app will provide a gateway for you to buy and play your favorite Genesis games, fully emulated to run just like the originals. The initial version of the app will come bundled with Space Harrier II, but then once you’re inside the collection, you’ll be able to add new games, including Sonic the Hedgehog, Golden Axe, Ecco the Dolphin and Shining Force for starters.

These quirky business card holders come to us courtesy of Japan’s Banpresto. Each one features imagery from popular retro arcade or home video game systems. While the Famicom (NES) controller and Pac-Man business card cases have been available for a little while now, but they just recently rounded out the collection, adding the awesomely awesome 16-bit Sega Mega Drive (shown above) as well as some Space Invaders bedecked designs.

While this wouldn’t be the first handheld based on the Sega Dreamcast, I have to say that from the looks of these blurryvision pics, it sure looks like a good one. Fans of the classic Sega console will appreciate the clean and compact styling of this portable remake what is arguably one of the best consoles of all time.

Want to play all your favorite classic retro console games? Sure you could cheat and buy yourself a Dingoo, but what fun would that be? This custom-built portable uses hardware from a couple of other devices to create a system that plays games from the Nintendo NES, SNES and Sega Genesis.

Now I’m not a smoker, but the fact that these Zippo cigarette lighters look like retro Sega consoles might be enough to get me to start. Actually, no. But they might be enough to convince be to buy a lighter that looks like a retro Sega console anyway.

We’ve seen a variety of old 1980s computers get transformed into new things thanks to the wonders of casemodding. But amongst the Sinclairs, Ataris, Commodores and the like, this is the first time I’ve come across a Sega PC mod.

Way back in the wayback machine, Sega released a bulky handheld called the Nomad. This portable gaming console could play Genesis cartridges on the go. But the problem with the Nomad was its high price (almost $200 bucks), abysmal battery life, and bulky design.

Now that you’ve got your Donkey Kong, Pac-Man and Tetris retro mini arcade cabinets, it’s time to add to your tiny arcade collection with a few slightly newer games. These 4-inch long mini arcade games are modeled after classics from SEGA’s arcade hey-day.

I’m not sure why this R2-D2 has 8 video game consoles built into its innards, but I still like it. Maybe it’s just the very fact that I’ve never seen an R2 unit with more than 20 game controllers connected to its front, or maybe it’s just the sheer absurdity of the thing that has me captivated.

There are plenty of cheap plug-and-play SEGA retro gaming systems out there, but this is the first one I’ve seen that lets you load up your own ROMs and play them on your TV. The E-Time Game Play Controller ($22 USD) may look like a standalone game controller, but it’s actually a self-contained SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis console.

TecToy’s upcoming revamped edition of the classic SEGA Mega Drive/Genesis system is getting a modern-day upgrade with the addition of a Guitar Hero-inspired controller and accompanying game. The Mega Drive 4 Guitar Idol edition will include not only a Mega Drive/Genesis gaming system, and a pair of old-school controllers, but bundles a guitar that would make current-gen console players happy too.

This portable gaming system looks a whole lot like Sonic The Hedgehog. So it’s a good thing that it actually plays a variety of classic SEGA Genesis/Mega Drive games. Freetron’s FunPlay 20-in-1 not only can be connected to your television, but since it runs on 3-AAA batteries can be played on the road with portable DVD players (as long as they have a video input).

There aren’t as many video game apps for the Mac as there are for Windows computers, and even then I have a feeling that there’s no program, Windows or otherwise, that lets you play and play with retro video games the way OpenEmu does.

For many of us, the days of arcades are long past (and if you’re lucky enough to have one nearby, cherish it!), but we remember plugging in all those quarters with a particular fondness. Well, prepare to have that fondness exploited, in the form of adorable miniature arcade cabinets.
