Japan produces some of the most important innovations in the world of technology, but they also are known for making some of the oddest gadgets ever invented. This one is no exception.
This strange looking device from SEGATOYS produces three-dimensional “healing” sounds which are designed to help you relax.
This little known SEGA Saturn SGX system is for sale on eBay. The Saturn SGX was designed to run SEGA Saturn games in video arcades.
Made back in the late 90’s by a company called SunSeibu, The SGX is basically a modified SEGA Saturn mounted in a heavy-duty metal enclosure with a coin-op mechanism.
Ever since the Sony PSP came out about 2 years ago, it’s gotten a pretty bad rap for its relative lack of quality gaming titles, especially when compared to the Nintendo DS. Sure, a handful of innovative games like Lumines and LocoRoco have made their way onto the portable, but for every one good game, there are twenty stinkers.
After you sit around waiting for SEGA’s new Sonic game to load, nothing is more relaxing than a nice foot massage. Well, at least that’s what the game maker has got in store for visitors to one of their arcades in Shibuya, Japan.
Check out this video clip of some of the horrifically painful load times for the new Sonic the Hedgehog game, running on the Xbox 360.
Not only are the load times terrible, the shear quantity of load screens that occur to complete even a simple task are ridiculous.
If you’ve always wanted to build up a huge collection of vintage console games, now is you chance to do it in one fell swoop. Some guy over in Hamburg, Germany has decided to sell off his collection of over ninety classic (and not so classic) video game consoles on eBay.
It seems strange to me that a device called the “Coleco Sonic” would play classic SEGA games, but that’s just what this little portable system does.
Available for pre-order now from Target, the $49.99 Coleco Sonic handheld features 20 classic SEGA titles from the old 8-bit and Game Gear era, including:
Sonic Drift 2
Sonic Triple Trouble
Alex Kidd in High Tech World
Alex Kidd in Miracle World
Altered Beast
Assault City
Astro Warrior
Aztec Adventure
Bomber Raid
Columns
Ecco II: The Tides of Time
Fantasy Zone
Fantasy Zone: The Maze
Global Defense
Kung Fu Kid
The Ninja
Penguin Land
Quartet
Snail Maze
Super Columns
With the Coleco/SEGA branding weirdness going on, I find it especially ironic that the most comprehensive details can be found in the AtariAge forums.
After earlier rumors that Sony’s Playstation 3 might not have any 1080p gaming titles, it’s been confirmed that at least two upcoming titles will support the holy grail of high definition resolutions, with a full non-interlaced 1920×1080 picture.
SEGA has announce a Fall 2006 release date for their new compilation, the SEGA Genesis Collection. The title will be released for Sony’s Playstation 2 and Playstation Portable systems.
The disc will include 30 titles from the Genesis system including classics such as Altered Beast, Sonic The Hedgehog, Shinobi III, Phantasy Star and Golden Axe.
