Sphero is not just about cute, connected rolling balls. The company is now unveiling its first non-spherical product. Sphero’s Spider-Man listens and responds to your voice commands. Unlike the company’s BB-8 toy, this guy doesn’t need an app to do its thing.

Christian Poulsen liked the BB-8 droid from Star Wars: The Force Awakens so much that he decided to make his own. He actually made the droid you see here in less than a day, which is why the surfacing and paint is not perfect.

I first saw the Sphero robotic ball about 2 years ago at CES, but I never really got a chance to play with one hands-on until now. When I first saw it in action, all I wanted to say was “Do not taunt Happy Fun Ball.”

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you know that today is April Fool’s Day. Many of the items we’re posting on the site today aren’t real – but some are. This is one product that falls into the former bucket, but I so wish were in the latter.

Remember Sphero, the robotic ball of fun? Well, apparently he’s growing up really fast and has his license now, along with a new set of wheels. It was created with parts like a discarded toy car, trackball, an Arduino kit, and an H-Bridge.
