There’s something odd about this T-Rex but I can’t put my finger on it. It might be the fact that its body is shaped like a donut. Yeah, that’s it. You’re not looking so ferocious in that shape are you mister T-Rex?
Swimming pool season is long since over here Chicago, but there are still places where it’s warm enough to take a dip in the pool this year. One thing you’re never supposed to do is spill ink into a swimming pool.
Biomimicry is the art of making technology and robots that mimic attributes of real-life animals. Festo is all about biomimicry. Take a look at this eel-like robotic fish called BionicFinWave. It swims like a cuttlefish and is mighty creepy to behold.
It’s a bit too cold here in Chicago to even think about going for a swim, but I’m pretty sure lots of us will be heading to warmer points South this winter for vacation. And if you’re going somewhere with a swimming pool, you’ll want to bring a pool float.
If you’re a sexy woman who enjoys lazing around in the pool, you want this giant inflatable cockroach. According to the images here, the ladies love to lounge around on a giant cockroach. Kids too, but gals in bikinis really seem to love it.
The SwimFin looks like a fun swimming aid for kids. It straps onto your child’s back to provide buoyancy and encouragement. It helps the child feel safe so that they can concentrate on moving their arms and learning their strokes.
I’m sure a lot of little girls wanted to become mermaids at some point in their lives. I’m guessing probably after they watched The Little Mermaid or some other movie which featured the mythical creatures.
There’s no way you can actually become a mermaid, but now you can learn how to be one (or at least, swim like one) at an actual school located in Manila, Philippines.
Jumping robots must really be in demand I guess. RHex uses six curved leg-scoops to propel the robot into some incredible jumps. This 15-pound machine can even hoist itself up a vertical wall that’s taller than itself.
OK, so maybe ‘underwater gliding’ is the technical term, but to me, it looks like this robot fish is swimming. As Grace (short for Gliding Robot ACE), the robot fish glides through the water, it strives to conserve energy.
If I didn’t have my music when I was running, I probably would have trouble with boredom and motivation, especially because I usually run by myself. So I can imagine the same holds true for any sort of distance swimming.
Summer is nearly over, but that doesn’t mean you can’t still hit the pool or swim in the ocean for the next few months. These Star Wars inflatable pool toys are inspiration enough for me to hop back in the waters, even with Fall approaching.
I’m not sure why we need robots that can swim like humans, but here we have one, and it’s named “Swumanoid.” Is there not enough danger at sea? Do we need humanoid robots swimming around ready to drag us under?
This device might look a bit odd, but I wonder why no one created it before now. It basically allows swimmers to stay completely submerged during their laps, which is pretty cool. With the Powerbreather, you don’t strain your neck or come up for air at all.
