This amazing clock combines the 7-segment look of a modern LED or LCD clock, but messes with your head by making the digits come to life with a mechanical movement. Designed and realized by RISD BFA student Alvin Aronson, the D/A Clock is a clever mash-up between the digital and analog universes.

It’s been a while since I brought you guys any cool new watches. It’s not for lack of trying, but there just hasn’t been much that’s hit my desk that really caught my eye. So I was pleased when I came across these, the latest analog timepiece from the guys over at Nixon.

Sometimes it’s a bit of a challenge to tell the exact time on an analog clock. Sure, you can say “it’s about quarter-to-three”, but it really might be 2:47. This intricate wall clock tries to solve that problem by displaying every individual minute as a separate point on the dial.

Need to tell time in two places at once? These funky metal watches from Penguin Clothing offer displays at both the top and bottom of their cases. The gold-tone Penguinator and brushed stainless Two-Timer each feature a pair of completely independent time displays, so you can keep track of time in both your home town and in Timbuktu at the same time.

I’ve seen all kinds of strange and unusual digital timepieces from Asia, and most of them are so difficult to read that the novelty wears off quickly. So it makes me happy to see an unconventional LCD watch that’s actually quite easy to understand.

This new digital weather forecaster from Oregon Scientific offers retro-future styling that make it look like something out of 2001: A Space Odyssey. With it’s curvy egg-shaped design, modern typography and bold icons, it’s a definite nod to 1960s space-age futurism.

For just a few brief moments each day, this clock looks like an ordinary cube, but most of the time it transforms to form star-like geometric patterns. The Time Cube carves off one corner of its 6-sided box to form a series of layered triangles which rotate to tell the current time.

This wristwatch conceals its dial behind a dark red filter that gives it a bold look that’s unlike any other watch I’ve seen. The hands and numerals on designer Italo Fontana’s U-Boat Night Vision watch are actually yellow instead of white to enhance readability behind the deep red glass.

Trying to find out if there’s a wireless network nearby? This wristwatch not only tells the time, but can help you figure out the strength of the closest wireless signal. Just press the clearly marked face button on Wi-Fi Detecting Watch, and it’ll indicate signal strength on a scale from 0 to 8.

Unlike a normal clock, this funky modern timepiece keeps its hands stationary, letting the numbers on its dial rotate around the hands to tell the time. A simple gear-drive mechanism moves the outer ring around the clock mechanism.

Looking for a cool gift for the geek who has everything? I really dig this shiny new digital watch and its dramatic styling. Concealed behind the mirrored face of the Reflection watch dwells a bright red LED display which only shows itself when illuminated.

This wouldn’t be the first Nixie tube clock I’ve ever seen, but it sure offers some different display options than the typical numeric display they usually feature. Raymond Weisling’s GeekKlok not only can display time using traditional digits, it offers custom “fonts” which can tell time using special characters.

Remember how the Mooninites from ATHF caused such a stir in Boston earlier this year? Can you imagine what those government fearmongers would do if they saw one of these clocks sitting on a shelf somewhere?

Unless you’re as ancient as me, you might not remember the earliest LED watches from back in the 1970s. Now you can own a remake of one of the most clean, minimal LED timepieces from that era.

Timberland’s latest men’s sports watch packs in a plethora of handy features for outdoorsy types. The HT2 outdoor performance watch offers both analog and digital clock displays, capable of tracking time simultaneously in four different time zones.

Who says a traditional dial is the only way to display the time on an analog clock? This new timekeeper deconstructs hours, minutes and seconds onto separate clock faces. The minimal Just a Moment clock from Israel’s Reddish Studio does away with convention, breaking time into its most basic raw elements.
