Mars is the planet that will likely be the first planet outside of Earth that humans will set foot on. One of the things that NASA is looking for on the planet are signs of water that could be used for astronauts to drink and other things.
This is just insane. The waterfalls along the coast of Southern Australia are actually flowing upwards due to extremely high wind speeds. The large waterfalls as you will see in the video below are still flowing down.
Sometimes it seems like the military wants to shed all the people from many aspects of its operations. We will always need eyes on the ground, but many tasks are now being handed over to robots and drones.
I missed this cool display when it first turned up back in Japan in 2009, but it’s cool enough that I thought it was worth a mention regardless. Basically, what you’re looking at here is a unique sign that creates words using perfect beads of water.
Even if you’re careful with your gadgets, chances are they’ll be exposed to water or moisture at some point. I’ve heard of a couple of methods of drying electronics – a container full of uncooked rice does do the trick at times – but if you want a more portable and easier solution, you might want to check out these Wet Emergency Kits from Dry-All.
I have a DSLR camera that I bought mostly for the fast shutter speed, so I could actually get pictures of my kids rather than photos of elbows or ears thanks to the wait for the shutter to go off on a point and shoot.
I like to swim and I have always though SCUBA diving would be cool as long as it was in water shallow enough that sharks couldn’t sneak up on me. I’m not for diving down to the kind of depths in a submarine where the pressure is so great you are one leaky valve from getting a testicle shot off by a billion psi of ice cold ocean water squirting through a crack.
If you like long hot showers in the morning and a bit of music to go with it to wake up we have the radio for you. You can buy all sorts of radios that are made for use in the shower that can survive the water.
I like things that are odd and this watch is really odd to me. It’s a custom one of a kind wristwatch designed by Yvan Arpa. The thing that is so odd to me about it is that the case of the watch is filled with liquid and the watch is water resistant too.
Water meters usually display only the volume of water that has been consumed, and even then it’s not presented in an easily understandable format. What if you had a device in your house that also showed the equivalent cost of the water that you’re using in real time?
I’ve never been one to mix water with electronics, but if your laptop is generating too much heat, then you need to do something about it, right? This portable waterbed for your laptop should get the job done.
I’m going to go on record right off the bat and say if you buy this MyPolarIce, the universe will kick you in the balls (if you have balls). Call it karma, call it whatever you want this is one of the single dumbest things I have ever seen for sale.
I hate cleaning stuff. I generally wait until there is enough toothpaste caked on my sink that I can’t lean over it without getting dirty. I also hate doing dishes and once went two weeks eating from napkins and paper towels to avoid dishes.
Everything’s in 3D these days, so why shouldn’t Tetris get the X/Y/Z treatment too?
Researchers Peter Barnum Srinivasa Narasimhan, and Takeo Kanade at Carnegie Mellon University have come up with a way to project 3-dimensional images onto multiple curtains of water to form a volumetric display.
Not that this idea is really good for anything other than looking cool, you’ve gotta hand it to these Japanese researchers, who have managed to create a special tank which can momentarily suspend illustrations in water.
