From Zero to Sixty: The 15 Fastest Cars on the Market

Cruising at max speeds with the wind in your hair is an exhilarating experience, and you can feed that need for speed at one of many tracks available nationwide.

Whether you’re a gearhead or someone who craves the taste of thrill, the automotive market has something for everyone. These cars exemplify state-of-the-art automotive engineering.

This list offers the fastest vehicles on the market with the quickest 0-60 acceleration. More often than not, these machines are priced at a premium with the specifications to match.

1. Dodge Challenger SRT Demon 170

Have you ever wanted to do a wheelie in a car? The Challenger has your back. The Demon leaves its competitors in the dust, going from a standstill to 60 mph in only 1.66 seconds.

It’s no secret that Dodge produces pure-muscle automotive products. The Demon’s ethanol detection technology can bump up its horsepower to 1,025.

2. Rimac Nevera

With a 1,714-horsepower engine bolted between its fenders, the Rimac Nevera attains 60 mph in 1.74 seconds. Rimac plans to produce 150 models, each costing around 2.2 million dollars.

This supercar has climbed the hierarchy against famous names like McLaren, Ferrari, and Lamborghini. This all-electric Croatian cheetah slices through gravel like butter, breaking 23 speed records.

3. Koenigsegg Gemera

This one’s fun for the family. With four seats, each with plenty of legroom and luggage space, the Gemera is geared to take your family on the fastest vacation, from 0 to 60 in 1.9 seconds. Unfortunately, few are interested in this $1.7 million car. Only 300 of these will see the market.

This Swedish family hypercar combines exclusivity, practicability, and finesse. Koenigsegg’s renowned craftsmanship, attention to detail, and limited production numbers manifest the company’s first four-seat hypercar.

4. Tesla Model S Plaid

As an all-electric vehicle, the Tesla Model S Plaid is blistering fast and resets your sense of speed. It switches lanes quicker than one’s eyes could catch. It’ll pin your head to the headrest as it shoots off in a mere 1.98 seconds.

Sadly, as with most engineless cars, it falls short in the auditory department. Many complain about its poor sound quality. Starting at a base price of $89,990, it pushes 1,020 horsepower with its three motors.

5. Porsche 918 Spyder

The Spyder is part of the coolest group of three: McLaren P1, Ferrari La Ferrari, and Porsche 918 Spyder. Hybrid hypercars are the cream of the crop, and the Spyder fully surpasses the bar of its class and zips from 0 to 60 in 2.2 seconds. Surprisingly, it is the cheapest of the three, just shy of a million dollars.

It intelligently shifts between its electric and combustion components. It extracts the most power from the gas engine and shifts to electric after acceleration. Only using electric capabilities, it hits 62 mph in six seconds.

6. Lamborghini Huracán Performante

Notably lighter than its other variants, the Lamborghini Huracán Performante strikes like lightning. Nimble and quick on its feet (or wheels), it hits the 60mph mark in 2.3 seconds.

If one ignores the discomfort of its carbon fiber seats, the Performante is built for all sorts of drivers. Its bone-rattling V10 gas engine unleashes up to 630 horsepower. Among all Lamborghinis, many prefer this one.

7. Aston Martin Valkyrie

Aston Martin capped the production of this brute at 150 units, retailing for about $3.5 million each. Given its menacing and extraterrestrial appearance, the Valkyrie seems out of place.

With a V12 hybrid engine suspended behind the seats, it boasts a jaw-dropping 1,160 horsepower that takes it from zero to 60 in 2.3 seconds. It’s fast enough to cause vibrations near the track.

8. Porsche Taycan Turbo S

Porsche has been synonymous with luxury styling and performance over the years. Rightfully so, this electric superstar’s sleek design amplifies its charm. It’s got the handling and responsiveness that dreams are made of.

It’s one of the more affordable Porsches at $99,400. Its soundless acceleration from zero to 60 in 2.3 seconds complements its refined all-wheel-drive system and two-speed transmission. The Taycan embodies the exciting possibilities of electric vehicles like a dream.

9. Bugatti Chiron Super Sport 300+

Bugatti remains the trailblazer of high-speed action and sublime delivery. Those in the 2000s remember the Bugatti Veyron as the fastest car on the market. With its spirit woven into the building process, the Chiron rockets to 60mph in only 2.4 seconds.

As the name suggests, the Bugatti Chiron Supersport 300+ smoothly exceeds 300 mph. This aerodynamic French four-wheeler symbolizes wealth and sophistication. Production was restricted to only 30 units, enhancing the premium aspect of this ridiculous supercar.

10. Ferrari SF90 Stradale

Ferrari paints this speedster red, both for its signature color and for its fast-paced frenzy. With the SF90, Ferrari is the pioneer in integrating PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid Electric Vehicle) technology. It rocks a cyberpunk-esque look and the swiftness to match.

People compare its appearance to many other cars, but it’s as efficient as stylish. Its streamlined body underwent rigorous testing to achieve an acceleration of 2.5 seconds. Through this, it attained unrivaled stability and cornering prowess.

11. Koenigsegg Jesko

Koenigsegg returns to this list. The Swedish manufacturers have always battled against Bugatti, and honestly, they win most of the time. The Jesko delivers an astounding 1,578 horsepower and slashes through the air in only 2.5 seconds.

In theory, it could reach a top speed of 310 mph. With spectacular aerodynamics and sleek cuts, it generates much downforce (a force that pushes the car down on the ground to improve grip).

12. SSC Tuatara

The Tuatara beats Bugatti’s W16 engine’s complexity with a simple V8 and a few turbos fastened to it for some extra oomph. Despite changing claims about top speed, it hits 60mph in 2.5 seconds like nobody’s business.

With 1,750 horsepower strapped to its engine, it’s no wonder speed trackers were mistaken. Regardless, SSC kept track-level handling in mind when creating only 100 cars. Its rarity notches its price up to just over $2 million.

13. Audi R8 V10 Plus

This sporty Audi is sure to turn heads on the highway. The upper trim doubles as a road and track car, with 602 horsepower pushing its engine. Nothing beats the zeal of a rowdy V10 in an era of quiet electric vehicles.

Manual transmissions are even rarer in this variant. The R8’s launch from stationery to 60 mph in only 2.6 seconds isn’t just some technical trickery. It’s a testament to Audi’s relentless commitment to pursuing performance expertise.

14. McLaren P1

Another member of the Holy Trinity, this British hypercar runs on a hybrid engine meant to dust its rivals. The P1’s aggressive expression is daunting and renders even Ferrari outdated. It churns out 727 horsepower to dart off into the distance in only 2.7 seconds.

It’s one of the more popular McLarens, thanks to The Weekend’s “Starboy.” Only 375 P1s were produced, nearly 35% of which were transported to the U.S. The last unit built was orange, arguably its prime color.

15. BMW M5 Competition

The BMW M5 Competition is an unassuming powerhouse. Much like Elvis Presley in his prime, it’s the king of practicability. It’s become heavier over the years, but it can still put on quite a show.

Renowned for its supercar-level performance and executive comfort, its usability remains untouched. This speedy hypercar can carry up to five passengers and accelerate from 0 to 60 mph in just 2.8 seconds.
