LEGO Art Milky Way Galaxy: Build The Galaxy On Your Wall

With over 17 years of writing experience, Jonathan has had a passion for all things tech-related, ever since watching Inspector Gadget as a child. He's disassembled countless appliances and managed to put a few back together, and one still works. When not writing, he can often be found playing video games or accidentally hurting himself in the garage.

The Milky Way Galaxy is the latest addition to LEGO’s Art series and consists of a 3,091-piece replica of the Milky Way Galaxy as imagined from distant space. And it’s not flat either. The hangable wall art relies on numerous unusual LEGO pieces to give it some depth and measures 26″ W x 16″ H x 2″ D when complete. Well, provided you complete it per the instructions and don’t just try to eyeball it.

Available beginning May 18th, the set is a spiral of blues, pinks, oranges and creams spanning 105,700 light years. It even includes a small ‘YOU ARE HERE’ placard to attach to the galaxy to indicate our location inside it. We’re so small. And even smaller in LEGO form.

Would my finished set look like the Milky Way? Maybe an ABSTRACT version. Most of my LEGO builds wind up looking like abstract versions of what they’re supposed to be. Floors where there are supposed to be roofs, missing walls, minifig heads and legs just all over the place. I’m really quite the LEGO artist now that I think about it.
