19 People We Cannot Stand In Movies or Television

No matter how good a movie or television show looks, the mere presence of some actors means we’ll never see it.

Here are 19 such actors that moviegoers cannot stand.

Mark Wahlberg

Mark Wahlberg’s personality has already rubbed some filmgoers the wrong way.

Add in his past regarding hate crimes, and it’s no wonder why he’s an actor people can’t stand.

James Franco

In the past, James Franco was a member of the modern-day frat pack alongside Seth Rogen and others.

With the rise of the #MeToo movement, his past allegations rose, turning people off of his movies.

Jesse Eisenberg

Is Jesse Eisenberg typecast as a nerdy maniac? It’s very possible, and as a result, it’s impossible to see Eisenberg as anything else as awkward and out of place in some roles, particularly Lex Luthor in Batman vs. Superman.

Amy Schumer

While Schumer has enjoyed success with a Comedy Central series and several major films, she’s not perfect.

A common critique is accusations of her stealing jokes from other comedians. That doesn’t fly with many people.

Dane Cook

Speaking of joke stealers, many mention Dane Cook as another actor people can’t stand for that very reason.

As of late, Cook isn’t winning fans because he began dating his now wife when she was 18. She is 26 years his junior.

John Travolta

While John Travolta may have been in beloved classics like Grease and Face/Off, some can’t stand him.

The biggest reason? Scientology.

Steven Seagal

Seagal is best known for his roles in various 80s and 90s action movies.

As time has passed, Seagal is now best known as a poor actor and an even worse human being. He has been accused of several allegations of discrimination, harassment, and breach of contract since the 1990s.

Jennifer Lopez

The musician and actress has her fans but also her detractors. The biggest reason is her perception as a diva, no doubt something that sticks due to her constant appearance in tabloids. Lopez disagrees with this assessment, saying, “I’ve always been fascinated by how much more well-behaved we have to be than men.” Adding that, “I got a moniker of being ‘the diva,’ which I never felt I deserved — which I don’t deserve — because I’ve always been a hard worker, on time, doing what I’m supposed to do, and getting that label because you reach a certain amount of success.”

The Observer mentioned that Lopez is often referred to as Hollywod’s most demanding diva.

James Corden

For many, the former late-night talk show host would top a list of actors we can’t stand.

Despite his attempts to come off as relatable, most find him to be the exact opposite. With his show now off the air, many are happy to never hear from Corden again.

Jared Leto

The 30 Seconds to Mars frontman and actor has his moments, but to most, he is incredibly creepy.

People say he’s also incredibly pretentious; many believe he runs a cult, thanks to a private retreat he threw for his fans. One of the band’s motto is “Yes, this is a cult.” Yet Leto pushes back on that, saying that its just a joke.

Ezra Miller

Best known for his work as Barry Miller, aka the Flash, in the DC Universe, Ezra Miller seemed like the next big thing in superhero movies.

In 2022, he had several run-ins with the law and was arrested for assault and being accused of battery.

Elisabeth Moss

Despite her success in the Hulu series The Handmaiden’s Tale, Elisabeth Moss turns many people off.

The reason? Her involvement in the Church of Scientology. Despite fans questioning her involvement with the church despite appearing in The Handmaiden’s Tale, Moss continually defends her beliefs.

Lena Dunham

While Dunham saw success with her HBO series Girls, she’s gotten into hot water for her comments online.

In addition to being accused of several racist comments, many view her to be nothing short of a spoiled brat.

Gwyneth Paltrow

Initially, the Pepper Potts actress turned people off for her wellness brand Goop.

More recently, moviegoers criticize Paltrow for glorifying her restricted eating diet.

Woody Allen

While Allen has enjoyed a successful pedigree as a filmmaker for many decades, he has a laundry list of sexual allegations against him.

Anyone with an entire Wikipedia page for their sexual abuse allegations deserves to be on a list of actors we can’t stand.

Tom Cruise

It’s possible that Tom Cruise is clinically insane.

We’re not talking about his penchant for performing his own stunts in movies like Mission Impossible and Top Gun. Like Elisabeth Moss, he’s also a Scientologist. As a result, it has turned off many moviegoers.

Will Smith

Even before he slapped Chris Rock at the Oscars, people started to sour on Will Smith.

While people can argue about whether or not the airing of public laundry between him and his ex-wife, Jada Pinkett, is warranted, many agree that they’re simply tired of it and have soured on the famed actor.

Kevin Spacey

Kevin Spacey used to be one of the biggest names in Hollywood, thanks to performances in The Usual Suspects and House of Cards.

Everything changed with his allegations of sexual harassment. Now, it feels like nobody wants to watch a movie he’s in.

Kevin Hart

We wrap up the list of actors we can’t stand with a comedian who seems to have a new movie release every month.

Despite having no trouble finding work, many moviegoers aren’t Kevin Hart fans due to his ability to perform only one character.
